It's not my fault my parents worked their way up from working class to middle class.

seeing those videos from MC Riz has made me excited, and if he is collaborating with Morris then that makes me excited too

Hmm. Apparently while filming, Riz had a lot of attacks of conscience about the film's politics. Hopefully that doesn't mean the script is built on that bullshit about suicide bombers being nihilistic 6th-formers

Just wondering what your source was for that?

He used to be quite close with a friend of mine, who says she regularly got angsty texts during filming. She hasn't seen him recently though.

Wait and hope, I guess

Any idea what was said in the messages she recieved?

Still, it hopefully means the script isn't simple black and white, so to speak.

Having heard that I have quite high hopes for it. I hope it is silly as hell and leaves people in a mess trying to justify it.

I dreamt about this - and you lot - last night.

In it, we all met in Wales (?) in a huge palatial Factory where there was an outdoor premier of the film. The only scene I can remember now featured the lead character walking out into the middle of a dusty street, and producing a "wacky" weapon with long red foam pipes emerging from the hand-held unit (like long bendy fingers).

Unsurprisingly, no-one laughed, although I felt compelled to as I wanted to enjoy it. Then the verbwhore next to me looked round and glared at me.

Take from that dream what you will.

A page has been put up on warp.com about Four Lions

http://warp.net/films/four-lions/four-lions-officially-selected-by-sundance#2

It has a page dedicated to upcoming screenings, though Sundance is the only listed one.

There is also a new, funny, still from the film.

Don't jinx it!

But yes, I hope so. That picture of the crow did make me smile, so that's something at least.

I'm know I'm just reiterating what I've said before here but I really cannot wait for these. I can see myself adoring it even if there will be a lot of inevitable moaning about how he's 'past his best'. Everything about it sounds almost too good to be true, like a dream for what I would want Chris to do next.

Those stills actually made me chuckle. I just pray that the script is up there with his best. I don't give a shit about the target or datedness. If it's written and performed well enough, I'll be happy.

I wonder if Morris will come out of the woodwork and actually go to Sundance?  Maybe he will, since he's virtually unknown in the US.

If Riz Ahmed tops this perfomance MC Riz - Post 911 Blues then we are looking at a good film.

We watched "Taking Liberties" at college today and I was pleasantly suprised to see Riz Ahmed and his Post 911 Blues turn up. I had no idea that he'd been detained at Luton airport after the Road to Guantanamo.

*stalker alert*

I went to the Showroom cinema in Sheffield last night to watch The Road and was surprised to walk straight past Chris Morris. He was suited and booted and looked very Denham-esque! There seemed to be some event going on, and at a guess it would have been a private screening for Four Lions as Warp Films are based above the Showroom.

Congratulations on your detective work, you deserve a Blue Peter badge for it! I still have faith in Chris, although him in a suit is still quite a bizarre idea if not done amusingly.

Anything would be better than what he usually wears.

Quote from: warp.net
Four Lions is based on three years of meetings with imams, community leaders, moderates, radicals, police, security services, ex mujahideen and a wealth of surveillance material from major trials.

Do you reckon that was entirely for research, or might he have fooled some of the Imams into giving BrassEye style interviews? I'd love to see Muslim clerics appearing in nonsensical vignettes in the film.

I find his normal clothes endearing, fuck fashion when you can wear flowery shirts. I do generally have a distaste for smart clothes though, especially expensive suits, I just find them too... detached.

Well I'm the opposite. People who wear sandals anywhere other than on holidays should be gassed. And shirts should not have more than one colour.
