Cheers. Can you remember any of the non-spoilery lines?

One of the best lines seems to be directly related to the climactic sequence, so I'd rather not quote it. Sorry, that must sound incredibly annoying, but I'm sure that anyone who has seen that weirdly revealing trailer would feel the same.

Most of it, however, consists of funny physical/slapstick bits such as (you're going to read this anyway aren't you?) silly running; recalcitrant bazookas; bloke punching himself in the face; exploding crows. Sounds a bit shit when written like that, but it made me chuckle.

I'm quite amused that the first Chris Morris OST album will contain 'You Get What You (fucking) Give'.

Written before Jesse Armstrong's Oscar nomination, I see.

Written before Jesse Armstrong's Oscar nomination, I see.

Speaking of Oscar nominations/Jesse Armstrong/Four Lions, I can't help but wonder if this film could end up getting in the Original(?) screenplay category at next year's Oscars, giving Sam Bain and Chris Morris their first Oscar nominations and Jesse Armstrong's second.  I know its pretty early, but considering this is turning into somewhat of a Golden Age of British television comedy writers getting Oscar recognition (how many have there been, nine or so in three years?), it probably isn't out of the question.

I'm also wondering if Armstrong's nomination this year will give the film a bit of a boost as well.

They should definately push the "from an oscar-nominated writer of In The Loop" angle. As the recently speculated-upon theory here goes; there's an audience for this, and it's the same million people who saw ITL and Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle etc.

Aim unashamedly for the niche, no couples are going to see Four Lions on their first date. The people vomitting at the thought of a comedy about terrorism'll probably watch it anyway and bollocks to them, they don't know shit from shit. Was just reaquainting myself with the articles on Morris being the sickest man in britain and amazed that it happened here not so long ago.

I love that this has so clearly been written without controversy in mind, but because the creators were fascinated and inspired by the subject. Bizarely then, I'm more game for people to be offended by it.
