Really nice feel to the last episode. I loved the short scene with Louis and the fat guy casually shaking hands after thinking they were about to die. As has been said above, I like the fact that you really don't know what you're going to get with this show week by week.

It reminded me of Seinfeld and the fat naked guy. This is not meant as a criticism.

Another ace episode, but the bit with the "really big fan" was weirdly laugh-free. The subsequent kiss was quite amusing, though. My favourite moment I think was Louis getting caught laughing at the guy losing his rag at the airport, and meeting his glare for ages - I could barely stop laughing at that. They milked it perfectly.

Another hit this week I thought, laugh-wise on par with the last episode which was my favourite so far. Thankfully, that whole Gervais thing turned out to be a blip rather than a sign of things to come, as I feel like the show has hit stride now.

Oh, and Matthew Broderick finally isn't Ferris Bueller any more,  so good for him.

Yeah, really enjoyed that

Louis is one of the best for putdowns, as that thread he started on AST showed

"you're only here because your mother raped that homeless Chinese guy"

He's been trying to find a home for the "oh look, there's some cunt coming out of some cunt's cunt" putdown for a while.

Agh, this show is just absoloutley splendid! Such a better outlet for the man's talents than that sitcom. Can we discuss the look, feel and ambience of the thing? I think it's wonderful, and looks very expensively shot - though I assume that's just owed to Louie's real-life obsession with filming? Anyway, I'd happily watch this for half hours with no laughs, just for the look and feel. It's a bonus that I'm crying with laughter at some points. The Godfather remake for example.

broderick was a bit weak. Surprised he gets away with it when gervais gets panned even when he's fine.

Excellent episode though, I love this show.

Yes - also the cut from the screaming in the airplane walking into the airport - very good.

Another good ep, loved the way it ended with no true resolution to anything it brought up.

It makes me quite happy that Louis is a cat person for some reason. I imagine that since he does the talking-to-cat-and-trying-to-make-it-come-to-him thing in the show, he also does it in real life. Oh, plus it was funny, I really like this show's format and think the time goes by too quickly, damn the US networks with their overstretched ad time. And it's a testament to Louis' pure likeability that he can seem charming when doing "that cunt should die of AIDS-rape" material.

I do hope they release an uncensored DVD/Blu-ray/Laserdisc/VHS of this, the delivery of the heckler put-downs were great but I would imagine they have a lot more impact when not bleeped.

I loved that, I was dreading the cat getting shot during the (inevitable) robbery.

Agreed. It's kind of refreshing that nothing that happened in the shop brought on a revelation as to how he should deliver the line, as I guess you were meant to assume it would.
The heckler scene and subsequent confrontation were both fantastic but I think I could have done without the closing credits bit of Louis coaching the actor who played the heckler from stage. It took me out of the show a bit, like 'Being There' closing with outtakes of Peter Sellers corpsing. In fact, it kind of felt slightly like them going "it's alright, he didn't really wish someone would die of AIDS, she was an actor". I realise this can't have been the case because of the subsequent confrontation scene eliminating any doubt that it was a filmed and scripted setup and that it was intended as a callback to Broderick trying to coach Louis, but it still sat a bit wrong. Still, a minor quibble against a show that's turned into a real treat. As I said before the thing I like the most about 'Louie' is that you really don't know what you're going to get each week. We've had family stuff, touches of surrealism with the helicopter on the first date, long scenes of comedians just sat around shooting the shit. Stuff like the fan and her brother last week even reminded me slightly of the Coen Brothers.  It's turned out to be a very interesting show.

Louis CK's response to the news on Twitter included the phrase "Holy hitlers mothers tits."

Brilliant news! (How many are in this season, do you know?)

13 also I assume, it seems to be the standard season length for FX.

Does anyone else have 'Brother Louie' by Hot Chocolate constantly in their head all week after watching this?

Haven't seen the latest one, but the flying/Alabama one was probably my favourite so far. I found the plane crash scene quite unsettling, but the jump cut to the two of them arriving in the airport made me laugh like a loon. Brilliant piece of tv.

I enjoyed this outtake because it contrasted well with how ineffective Louis' character was at doing multiple takes during the Godfather remake.

His mom was great
I don't agree, I think she was a generic "Shit Mom"-type. There's probably a trope that accurately describes what I mean, but instead I'll use examples:
Huff's Mom in Huff
Pam's Mom in the US office - the second time we meet her, when she fucks Michael, not the first time when she's a different actress (I think).
Brenda's Mom in Six Feet Under

These women are poorly written and VERY irritating.

Good versions of what I'm calling the "Shit Mom" are Tony Soprano's Mom and Lucile in Arrested Development, evil, shitty people, but well developed.

(heh- Mom!)

It's hard to top Livia Soprano, so I won't try.

But... Penny's mum in Just Good Friends is a three-dimensional harridan who is also, at times, utterly relatable and vulnerable and in need of a good cuddle. Sullivan created Penny almost in anger as a riposte to one of the actors on Citizen Smith who said he couldn't write for women. Penny's obviously lovely and smart and sassy, but they're all fairly standard male-fantasy traits. I think Daphne's the real goldmine.

As for Louie. I can't really disagree with the verdict of a mate who I've forced to watch the show: "Still watching Louie. Still confused."

I found the multiple takes of the water being thrown at the car more entertaining than the episode.

I wish it would throw in the occasional genuinely great episode to vindicate my unconditional fandom/captivity.

The incidental music is by Reggie Watts - also a great comedian in my opinion.

There's a near whole show of his put up by google here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGetsXib_zA unfortunately it lops off his final explicative filled song, and is preceded by an excruciating 2 minute induction by an ill-at-ease google employee. I love what happens in the middle though.

Honestly, I think that one's been my least favourite yet, barring that great little scene at the end. The stand-up was pretty middling, that scene in the coffee shop made me cringe out of my skin and, beyond that, the plot was only about three scenes long, and didn't play out satisfyingly at all. Given the easygoing nature of the thing it feels like each show should be about ten minutes longer, to give each story time to develop at its own pace. That ending in particular seemed to come far earlier than it should, and left me underwhelmed at best. Still, that's probably the first episode I really disliked, so I'm hoping it's just a blip.
