Oh and favourite photographers/influences. I'm partial to a bit of Eugene Atget/William Eggleston/Vivian Maier/Lewis Morley.

And you's?

Generally I tend to go for books of more exotic landscapes, I think Open Skys by Don McCullin in the only UK based one I own. Besides that its a lot of American F/64 type stuff such as Ansel Adams, John Sexton, etc mixed in with a bit more random colour work, Shiro Shirahata is probably my favourite there for stuff of the Himalaya's and Karakoram.

To get really pretentious I do like a lot of 17-19th landscape painting, Turner obviously but also the likes of Claude Lorrain, Jacob van Ruisdael and US Hudson River stuff.

I have actually been trying to come up with a bit more rustic stuff to broaden my market a bit but generally I'm just more drawn to the epic/atmospheric/romantic. You tend to get a selection of stuff I might potentially look to print here(not all of it makes it that far though, I'd guess maybe 1/4), often early versions I go back to and reprocess sometime latter and generally not calibrated for most peoples monitor settings so I'd imagine they tend to look more saturdated and constrasty than the prints generally do.

Been messing about with the Nik Collection which is an excellent (and free) set of controllable filters[nb]A bit late as it's been out forever apparently[/nb]. Highly recommended.

Some 70's style hauntology double exposure from Bruges.

Nicely done, that kind of editing can end up looking gimmicky if done badly but I really like that, my attempt to age Bristolian grot...

Spent most of the weekend tralling though images taken in the past couple of years to process...

Not visited this thread for a wee while. Some pics I took of a university ball recently:

It was dark as owt (ISO 1600, f/2, 1/30) and people were moving fast, so the only thing I could really do was prefocus and use a narrow aperture and a flash and hope for the best. All looks a bit clubby for a white tie event, hey ho. Also I left the SLR at home and gave my mirrorless its first proper outing.

Higher Shelf Stones, just east of Glossop along the Snake Pass (walked up there myself a couple of times):

Somewhat ironically for this thread it was a photo reconnaissance RB-29 called 'Over-Exposed!' It was transiting from Scampton to Burtonwood (carrying the USAF wages) as the crew were on their way back to the USA. All 13 on board died.

What he said.

'twas an utter turd of a day, though. All hazy grey skies and sod all contrast. Still, glad to have switched to a mirrorless, as I would not have been arsed with dragging my SLR up there.

Overcast isn't automatically a bad thing when your looking to take those kinds of shots, means you don't need to worry as much about the direction of the light.

Finally gotten around to scanning some shots I took with an Nikon F2 and Illford 100 B&W film last month...

Pure coincidence this but in my random london wanderings yesterday i found myself at the grave stone for William Blake (who fyi couldn't paint tigers to save his life) and then later at the british library where they have this statue which references a famous Blake painting of Newton.

The older parts of his site do have some decent info on older Nikon lenses that's hard to find elsewhere but generally yeah he's an obvious attention seeker. it wasn't so bad in the past when he came across more as a middle aged gearhead pushing whatever his latest fancy was but more recently its become much more obviously cynical going for maximum attention and I'd image maximum income recommending cameras that will get the most linked sales to his site.
