Note: The mods might want to cart this off to Oscillations but I put it here as it is specifically movie related.

In the What Non-New Films Have You Seen? (2017 Edition) thread, I said how War On Everything was pretty bad.
But it does have one redeeming feature.
It features the dreamy wonderfulness that is Non E Niente by Catherine Spaak. You can hear it here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8XNvRABkuk
So while I wouldn't want to sit through the film again, I'm thankful that I've been introduced to it.

Similarly, the dull and pointless origin story that was The Man From UNCLE has a highlight in the scene with the boat chase.

So there we are. Bad film, good tune. Too niche? Ah well, let's see...

Rolf Lundgren

In the days when Blockbuster used to let you rent 5 DVD's for £5 for a week I worked my way through some right shoddy picks but none was shoddier than this bag of shite called The Dummy (2000) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0275319/).

Exactly what you would expect from a first time director/writer/producer/lead actor. The whole project seemed to be financed purely for the guy to get his end away in numerous elongated "love" scenes. But in between those there is a horror story about a ventriloquist's dummy that comes to life[nb]how did they come up with such a crazy idea?[/nb] albeit not a very good one.

The whole experience was made even worse by the fact that whoever did the DVD transfer of the film completely buggered it up. You know when you accidentally press the zoom button? That would be annoying but just about tolerable however the picture also shakes at random intervals. It really is incredible that the film even got released in that state. They must have pressed thousands of copies of this DVD and it's completely ruined, probably because nobody could arsed to check it. It's a good practical joke to give the film to someone to make them think they're DVD player is on the blink.

Anyway the point I'm trying to get to as that as painful and as staggeringly boring this film is, the end credits introduced me to the brilliant "I'm your Puppet" by James and Bobby Purify (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9uvmca5WF4) which is as good as the film is bad.

Rob Zombie's House Of 1000 Corpses (2003) is not so bad as a directorial debut. A daft enough stylish slasher cartoon romp, but it ain't The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974).

However, I shall always thank RZ for introducing me to this Buck Owens track.

I was crestfallen from breaking up with a long term partner at the time and it was the perfect tune.

Both beautiful. Thanks.

In the first link, you can quite clearly hear how Stereolab and Broadcast had been taking copious notes.

"Dick" about 2 young girls discovering the doings of Richard Nixon and inadvertently bringing about the whole Watergate thing introduced me to this:

Grand Funk Railroad doing "The Locomotion"

Terminal Velocity was a bit shit, but it introduced me to this little beauty by Toad the Wet Sprocket.
