CaB radio and the doing thereof

Would anyone whose done it be prepared to share their software set up and that? Kittens' little guide from a while back was pretty handy but I'm in need of an alternative bit of software based kit to deal with the mic/sound stuff since Virtual Audio Cables seems to blast "TRIAL" over everything I record.
Also posting this thread is by no means a promise that I will be doing any shows or owt now or in the future nor is it a promise that I won't. I'll say no more. My lips are sealed. Say something once.... why say it again?
