Before Wayne Carr hit the airwaves, Chris Morris himself was quite literally “your favourite daytime jock” with a series of hosted and co-hosted shows for BBC Radio Cambridgeshire. Unlikely to have been much in the way of comedy, especially in the earlier shows, although the “Man Steps Off Pavement” sketch (an in-depth report, complete with expert analysis and eyewitness accounts) hailed from this era.
Descriptions in “quotes” are from the Radio Times.
All info gained from East editions of Radio Times and is subject to them being totally accurate :) We only have listings information from the beginning of 1986 - it's possible he was doing shows before this. The BBC's forthcoming Genome project promises to put the entire broadcast history of the corporation online by Summer 2011 - so more info to come.

Drivetime show hosted by Chris. “Radio Cambridgeshire producer Chris Morris will be hosting the stars and stripes this Thanksgiving Day as he celebrates with some of the hundreds of American airmen, women and their families at the airforce base in Alconbury. He'll be tucking into the turkey and pumpkin pie as part of Radio Cambridgeshire's week-long outside broadcast from Huntington. 'It's the climax to the busiest outside broadcasting year we've ever done. I'm really looking forward to the Alconbury OB as it gives us all a real taste of America, in the heart of Cambridgeshire,' says Chris.”
