Best Book:  In a rare departure from the crime genre for me I read the Jonathan Franzen book Freedom. Certainly an entertaining if frustrating read in places, and gave me plenty of food for thought about the environMent.
Worst Book:  I read the blurb of a self-help book I got last Xmas which made me so mad I wanted to butter the author's children and post them to Ian Huntley.

Best Thing To Happen To You In 2010: Started practising kung fu which improved my physical and mental well-being more than anything I've ever done - seriously pissed that I've had to cut it right back as my teacher training picked up, can't wait to finish this year and get back into it;Got my own classes, most of which are going great; learned an awful lot about Buddhism, practised a lot and felt happier with my place in the world than I have done since I was a kid; met some fantastic new people in teaching; settled back in the UK and found it's actually a great place to live (in some crucial ways); got into some seriously good headphones; discovered the joys of single malt whisky; playing Super Mario Galaxy 2 with my giggling girlfriend.
