Did anyone else go to this? It was good fun, very sweet to see the two of them together, Richard almost reverted to his old immature character, especially when Stew was giving him marital advice. There was a huge amount to goodwill towards them in the room.

For those who don't yet know, Herring sent the Twittersphere into a frenzy yesterday by revealing that this event was being filmed for inclusion as a Fist of Fun S2 DVD extra. I'm half tempted to hold out from listening to the free podcast recording in light of this news, but doubt very much that I will. I just got a copy of the first series and am overjoyed with it.

I understand that demand for L&H is kept high by the infrequency of these reunions, but I do wish they'd do more off the cuff stuff as they complement each other very well.

stephenjwz

I went. It was very enjoyable - I haven't/hadn't listened to podcasts previously so I didn't know to expect the interview/discussion format thing but it worked very well. Their remarks re: a proper reunion were well observed, I think it'll be a good while yet. Looking forward to the 2nd Fist of Fun DVD - this will be a good extra.

Dark Sky

When will the podcast be put up, when, when!

And what happened to the original thread on the podcast, anyway?  I've been really, really enjoying it.

"Star of BSkyB's Up Yer News, Stewart Lee!"

This is going to be great...

That was quite serious and glum, but interesting. Stewart Lee has a really seedy laugh sometimes, like a nonce cackling in a hedge.

been listening to this at work, had to pause it at the bit when they start talking about

Peter Baynham being 'delighted' at Richard Herring's grandfather's death

because I was laughing too much.

I expect to see that quoted on a poster soon.

I just spent ninety minutes with an immovable grin fit to take the top of my fucking head off, thanks to this podcast. Just wonderful stuff, albeit after a shamefully nostalgic fashion.

Dead kate moss

Glum and serious? Really? Anyway...

Spoiler alert
Rich to Stew - 'I genuinely think the funniest thing you've ever done is..'

Yes!!!

That was absolutely fucking brilliant. Really interesting and engaging comedy discussion, with some utterly hilarious moments. Haven't had time for podcasts of late but looking forward to catching up on the rest of these.

Other thread is here, Dark Sky: http://www.cookdandbombd.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=31679.0

Fantastic stuff. Made me feel happy. That's the first I've heard of the "mentalist" character from IAP being based on one of Stew's experiences, does anyone have a link to a proper telling of that, or know any more?

BlodwynPig

First podcast I have ever listened to and probably last (no, ahem, time). But I thoroughly enjoyed it, had me laughing out loud. Five Stars. A gem of a show.

thugler

Really enjoyed this, though maybe because I've seen/heard so much of their stuff, a lot of their stories were already familiar to me. Still very good though. Some of the Herring Leicester square podcasts get bogged down in Herring doing boring cock talk with the guest before asking any questions, much prefer discussion like this.

Baynham or somebody mentions it on the commentary, and I've heard Stew tell the story somewhere before. He had no place to stay after a gig and a fan offered him a bed, and when he went 'round to his flat this bloke had multiple identical posters of Lee & Herring plastered all over the walls. Then him and his flatmate put on a pornography film in which nuns had sex with pigs.

And that fan was Christian O'Connell.

Wasn't it also covered in How I Escaped My Certain Fate?

Beagle 2

Is it?! I have read that, but have evidently forgotten that bit. I'll root out my copy.

Hmmn.  I've just quickly skimmed the footnotes[nb]Would it kill you to include an index, Faber?[/nb] and it didn't leap out at me, so I could very well be wrong.  Again.  Sorry.

EDIT: A quick google suggests it was mentioned in the Fist of Fun DVD commentary.  So I was mistaken and I apologise.

BlodwynPig

It's mentioned on several sites on the internet. e.g. Alan Partridge forum.

Loved this. Any time they get back together it's so great to listen to, see also the commentary and other extras on the first Fist Of Fun DVD. Great stuff

The grandparent/Peter Baynham bit really had me cackling earlier, despite hearing Herring tell it before. I think it was Lee's manic laughter that made it even funnier this time round

I remember reading it in How I Escaped... I think, but the moment Herring describes how he

This is a plot-point in Stew's novel, Perfect Fool, too!

That was a wonderful way to spend an hour and a half. Ta for that, I'll give the others a go now.

Just listened to this. Lovely. Hilarious in places.
