Quote from: "Janek's Little Black Box"But apparently I shouldn't have the choice to do this whilst posting as a guest. Even if I can't join to post as a member. That's a bit of a funny attitude, slim. Or do you think that the 'edit' feature ought to be removed from everyone's posting window?
Only for people stroppily demanding stuff be removed or people who edit all their posts to read "..." or "Byeeeee" or whatever.

Seriously, that's the fucking point? It makes you look like a stroppy idiot, it makes the forum messy and hard to comprehend and it's a waste of Neil's time.

There's loads to do to the site. Personally, I'd ask of Neil that your selfish, boring request for manual deletion of your posts be placed at the lowest possible priority, behind all the stuff that actually helps the site tick over.

I might just quote all your posts so you can't delete them anyway, you big ninny.

Neil

Quote from: "Janek's Little Black Box"Thing is though, that could be anything couldn't it? Are you not even able to give me an approximate time period that this bug fixing may take, after which you will be able to delete them? That's all I'm asking for.

Nope.  No idea, got a lot to do at the minute.

QuoteAre you satisfied when people say 'Look, I've got a lot to do so leave me alone and it'll get done when I want to, and you'll like it that way.' And then ignore you when you have the audacity to ask them for something useful?
I'm sorry I'm not sending this as a PM Neil, but you'll ignore it.

OK.  Firstly, what is your problem with me saying I've got a lot to do?   That's as accurate as I can get.  It's going to take at least a full day to go through all the code changes and trap the bugs.  And that's not something I particularly relish doing, especially when it's been so nice outside of late.  So, I'll get to it when I can, it's something that needs done, and I'll do it.  And I certainly wasn't as snippy as you're suggesting in that quote there, I was pleasant and courteous.  Far more so than you deserved, considering the rude stampy-footed little outbursts you made.   You know, the outbursts which you're now asking me to remove because you realised you were being a tosser?

Secondly, I was not ignoring you, this is your problem right here, you are - as Frinky says - an attention whore.  You've been PM'ing me for weeks now, and each time I give you the same polite reply.  And yet still you persist.  Now, you've PM'd me two or three times over the last day.  And then you've came into this forum, and left two messages telling me that you've sent me PM's.  Did it ever occur to you that I might have something else to do?  Stop pestering me.

Please, bear in mind that I'm not on 24-hour call-out just to deal with you.  This is A HOBBY.  Your statutory rights remain unaffected.

Quote from: "Janek's Little Black Box"I'm trying to talk to Neil about this, not you, not anyone else.
Then don't involve me (or anyone else) by raising the subject where I (or anyone else) can respond to you. If Neil chooses to ignore you, that isn't my problem, it's yours. You'll have to find some other way to stamp your little feet impatiently at him, or accept that someone may take offence at your attempts to hijack yet another thread and turn it into The Janek Show.

Neil

Quote from: "Janek's Little Black Box"But apparently I shouldn't have the choice to do this whilst posting as a guest. Even if I can't join to post as a member. That's a bit of a funny attitude, slim. Or do you think that the 'edit' feature ought to be removed from everyone's posting window?

That's right, guests don't have the facility to edit their posts.  They do get the chance to post anonymously though.  This isn't through choice, it would be impossible to have a function for guests to edit their posts.  Therefore, guests don't edit their posts!  They can't!  So, I've agreed to spend my time deleting your guest posts, which I really don't have to do.  Nor would I sit here and edit out the posts of every guest that asked me to do so, partly because it would completely ruin the flow of converations, and partly because I have better ways to spend my time.

Now, please, realise that I'm doing you a favour, and shut the hell up.  Thanks very much.

Quote from: "Neil"...That's probably enough, a letter at this stage is just going to look like we're begging, I think.
Yeah but, well, aren't we? Isn't 'begging' just a conveniently perjorative form of 'demanding' or 'insisting'? I want these people to come on here and at least try and explain themselves and the reasons for their crap comedy. Don't you?

Surely we've got to ask ourselves the question - what is more important, getting things changed or the elegance of the statement we make? I think the former is more important. We wanted to get people talking about the comedy they're making and, well, they haven't have they? So let's try something else, and not worry about what we look like whilst we're doing it. Does no-one agree with that?

Your point is perfectly reasonable but if people choose not to reply via email this time around then it almost certainly would weaken the impact to follow it up a month later and would suggest a certain uncertainty/disorganisation (obviously this is no criticism, i've explained myself much better pages back).

Either comedy will magically get better by this time next year or when the time comes around many people will get involved to help make the Tumblies work as smoothly as possible.

Does anyone have any links to teen sex stories they could give me?

Ricky Gervais finally acknowledges receipt of his Tumbleweed Award.

I like the way that slim's post, now bereft of context, makes him look dirty.

slim

I'll never learn. My old mother always used to say to me, "Only respond to one post spam, not the multiple kind." Bless 'er. Now's who's laughing, eh?

Very sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this question, completely irrelevant to above discussion so it must be. But can't find a way elsewhere to ask this...

...why can't I download the GLR radio shows?
...when will the Morris Music work? (its such a good idea)

Please ignore if there are no answers, or if you've got something better to do, possiblly involving boulders.

Neil

I'll sort those things out when I get a new hard drive, which I'm currently trying to save up for. Not really got the space to work on that stuff currently, but when I get it then I'll go trhough the GLR shows, and fix all the dates etc, and then torrent them all in one go.

Alright if I just collapse these into my list yeah?

Morgan

I can't help but feel that JPA has got the right idea and that we should be keeping a track of all new shows that come out.  What other ones are there to be added apart from Modern Toss and Annually Retentive?

Milo

LeboviciAB84

Tokyo Sexwhale

Still Game
erm World Cuppa

Can Wonder Showzen count as this year?

And I think Ideal and The Smoking Room had new series this year.

The Mumbler

Let's not forget the wireless in all this.  2006 has already brought us:

All The Way From Memphis
Armando Iannucci's Charm Offensive
Banter (a definite Tumbleweed contender in this house)
Chris Addison's Civilisation
Count Arthur Strong's Radio Show!
Down The LIne
Ed Reardon's Week
Fifteen Minute Musical
Heresy
High Table Lower Orders
Jon Ronson On...
John Shuttleworth's Open Mind
Nebulous
The News Quiz
Political Animal (which I for one will certainly push forward come November time)
Radio Rivron
The Storyman With Andrew Clover
The Day The Music Died (make it go away)
The Powder Room (that one too)
Weak At The Top (like a L&H programme idea.  "John Weak is in charge of a company...")

Morgan

Nice work, Mumbler.

QuotePolitical Animal (which I for one will certainly push forward come November time)

Glad I missed this.  What is it, selected highlights of Gervais' two stand up shows?

Sorry.
