Edit> That 'Take Some Drugs' track is fab too Daves. Great find!

Thanks, I was beginning to wonder if anyone had liked it!  Their "Legs Like Elvis" track is worth a listen as well, though that does admittedly veer dangerously near the territory of The Thrills.

I'll check out the other bands people have recommended as soon as I get a spare five minutes.

For those of you whom like the acoustic gee-tars, Rich Barnard writes a nice tune.  He's been playing acoustic-y and folk hangouts in London for about five years or more now, and I've still yet to see him.

Argh, rich kid of "comedian" makes music with the comedy link band from E4. The scenesters love it though.

Oh right, well I didn't know about any of that. But I suppose that's to be expected since my closest contact with the "scenesters" these days is Mayer telling me he's just read on dot org that some band I've never heard of have fallen out of a window or something.

Sallyforth, my mate's boyfriend's band. Sound a bit like British Sea Power/ Bloc Party. Good though. And I love Santa Carla, especially the demos they've just released.

I'm enjoying virtually all of the music that's signed to this label. The band Unintentional are from the same small town as me too.

It's definately worh checking out if you like post-rock stuff with a bit of electronica here and there.

very enjoyable electronica, especially the track 'my ding a ling' ...also available to download. Not at all glitchy, a little bit  garagey, very nice.

Lovely downtempo Orb style sounds.

The phone down the hall is ringing in time and in tune with the track I'm listneing to which is quite trippy.

King Alexander

Good to go if you like angular pop rock - for instance, the Kills, or the Fall or Shooting At Unarmed Men or some of the dirty garage acts.

If MySpazz had existed when I was 14, this'd probably be the sort of stuff I'd be polluting tha interweb with.

The band that changed my life when I was 14 are surprisingly still doing their thing:

I saw The $hit live at Moles in Bath a fortnight ago, and they blew my 1100+ gig-jaded mind with the sheer power of their rock'n'roll attitude as well as their furious Argos catalogue electro. Up first on a Thursday night, the following two acts on the bill were so painfully aware they'd never be able to top The $hit's storming performance that they both played shortened sets and fucked off an hour and a half early. Plus the keytar player's proportions and gyrations could give a blind corpse the RFH.

http://www.myspace.com/shitmusic

Disclaimer: The $hit bribed me and everyone else in the audience with two quality, well designed button badges - one white saying "I 'heart' $hit music" in the traditional black and red, and the other one yellow bearing the blue and red legend "The $hit say KEEP MUSIC EVIL" in the same layout and style as the Musicians Union branding.

I'll be seeing them again, and not just to ogle the young lady with the piano round her neck.
