Youtube Thread - SE Edition

Robot Devil

I know that there's a Youtube thread in here for 80s music videos, but here's one for live performances, interviews and general music related curios on Youtube. Here's a couple to start:

Modest Mouse performing "Bury Me With It" on US TV

"Paul Morrissey" and Johnny Marr interviewed on kids TV ... and taking some kids to Kew Gardens on Charlie's Bus

The latter's finest moment comes at the thirty second mark.

Marvin

That Kew Gardens one is incredible it has to be said.

'Where are we going?'
'We're going mad!'
'I thought we were going to Kew Gardens'
*Morrissey mugs to camera*

Shoulders?-Stomach!

I swear Marr throws that kid a 'wanker' signal when he's not looking!

NoSleep

This Heat live '82
Unfortunately, only the from the last tour, so no Gareth (replaced by a bass player AND a keyboard player, not bad for somebody who started out in the band as a 'non-musician' in '76). That said, Trefor Goronwy is a great bass player.
Greenfingers
SPQR & Aerial photography
Makeshift Swahili

I used to have a copy of this, and the poster (FattyJubbo from WFMU) intends to feed out the whole gig eventually, which ends with Health & Efficiency.

I wish a video of the REAL This Heat would appear from somewhere.

An actual live La's performance, very good it is too! Lee Mavers looks horribly spaced out though during the itnerview, and then sings brilliantly.
bit of a suck up interviewer though!

ninestonecreature

More La's- or rather Mavers and Power- performing 'There She Goes' on Letterman with the aid of Paul Shaffer and the CBS Orchestra, who do a bang-up job, I reckon:

A Passing Turk Slipper

Nice link ninestone creature, cheers. Pity about Youtube being so full of cunts, one of the comments at the bottom of that page is:  'paul mccartney isnt fit to clean lee maver,s guitar strings/frog chorus/there she goes-no contest'

Labian Quest

The La's seem to have a different lineup in every clip you see of them, excellent stuff though. They had a dig at the Simple Minds in one of those clips, so here's a link to the 'Belfast Child' vid to balance things out.

Some great stuff here. It was particularly great to be reminded of the Pixies on The Word, in I think one of the first ever episodes. Strangely, I remember coming in from work and watching that show on a lovely summer's evening. Was it later on that it was transferred to evenings, or was I watching the repeat?

Anyway, here's one I was directed to today:

Jilted John on TOTP

Huzzie

Here are some things I stuck on the main Youtube thread. I am planning on going right through that thread with a collection of similar vids when I have a chance but for now.

Ian Brown Stage Fight. San Francisco.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Pf1rMtEqo0&search=ian%20brown%20fight

wow

Ian Brown's a real chickenshit fuck. he looks pretty scared when that bloke fronts up to him - and probably rightly so - but wastes no time piling in with some bizarre cack handed move once the guy's got about four other people laying into him.

Iniatially i thoght it aws pretty restrained of him not to lump this guy one, but actually  that's pretty sad

Labian Quest

The comments they made about the assassinations are interesting in the light of what happened to John.

In case anyone's only heard the White Stripes version, here's Dolly Parton doing 'Jolene':

Little Bird by the White Stripes but halfway through Jack starts singing a bit of Got Your Money by Ole' Dirty Bastard of all people, the lyrics he sings are 'So I walk on over with my crystal, Bitches, niggaz put away your pistols', it's pretty damn good, Meg is amazing in this clip as well, especially the above bit. Did he sing that bit a lot then? I'm sure it wasn't just at the one gig.

What they don't show there is what happened previously. Basically Ian Brown was complaining about the sound at the venue, and that guy just jumped out of the crowd and rugby tackled him to the ground.

Ian Brown is a brown belt in Karate but that guy is about three times his size, lucky he has his band there to stomp the shit out of him!

El Unicornio, mang

My favourite Syd-era Floyd song, with jerky footage of them all prancing about

I also came across some footage someone had shot on their camcorder of Syd recently, which is exceedingly creepy

As for saddest songs, I'll see your 'Love Untold' and raise you a 'Good Day'.
