Not YouTube but I wan't sure it was worth a new topic: Ludwig van Beethoven's 9th symphony stretched to 24 hours, with no pitch distortions. [link]
Quote9 Beet Stretch is Ludwig van Beethoven's 9th symphony stretched to 24 hours, with no pitch distortions. Executed in various versions with either the Snd or the Common Lisp Music software, both made by Bill Schottstaedt. Made at Notam, Oslo.

Am I being too forgiving of The Damned for having a go at this beauty?

They did a lovely "Looking At You" and a reasonable "White Rabbit" but I'm surprised they did a not too bad job of this one.  Shite video mind.

Whirlybird

You can find some truly remarkable stuff on Youtube.  Examples:

A live performance of the magically beautiful song "Panis Et Circenses" by Os Mutantes from 1969! right here, baby.

Tom Verlaine and Richard Hell bickering while the former teaches the latter how to play Venus!  I mean, fuck me ragged.  Part 1 - Part 2.  Ooh, better go and add Little Johnny Jewel to the 1000 best singles thread before some sod beats me to it.

Pixies - Hey 1988

Amazing performance. Looks like they're in a sewer.

Whirlybird

Man, I really should dig out my Pixies stuff, I don't think I've listened to them since around the time the BBC stuff came out.

Pixies - Cecilia Ann/Allison

Say what you like about The Word...they had some fucking great music acts on there.  God, I wonder if I can find the performance of Disarm, that's tied in with a very special party for me.

Pixies - Dig For Fire
Pixies - Allison

:-)

Allison, of course, is Frank Black's tribute to the wonderful Mose Allison.  There's sod all Mose on there, though, you'd think that BBC4 show would have been cut up and stuck on YouTube.  Think you can still watch loads of clips at the BBC4 site anyway.

At the Drive-In on Jools Holland, November 2000

Absolutely seminal moment in my adolescence, the most utterly thrilling live performance I had ever seen. The only thing missing from this video is Robbie Williams' face as he started the following song. Priceless.

Labian Quest

The Ruts playing 'Jah war' and 'Babylon's burning' live on French TV, never got to see them live, but they appear to have been a very tight live band. They had a big sound for a four piece too.

Strangely moving, hearing them laughing together like that. Lovely.

It's been removed from youtube annoyingly, but what was the video of? Was it them actually recording that specific version, with them laughing on video, or was it just a slide show? If it was the former, I am very very irritated that it has been removed and you should probably lie to me about it or I will cry solidly for a number of hours.

Labian Quest

Shame about the Beatles vid being removed, I love that song, here's quite a strange video Embrace did for 'All you good, good people' I remember the song, but not the video.

Sex Pistols here, auditioning a new singer to follow Rotten.

Wonder whatever happened to this guy after this, his brief moment of musical glory?

Cool. Winstone makes quite a good frontman, though maybe he does overdo the leaning-forward-with-the-mike bit. Here's The Raconteurs with 'Steady as she goes'

There was another version of To Hell With Poverty, but I think it's been pulled, ffs.

QuoteDe La Soul & MF Doom doing 'Rock Co.Kane Flow' on TV

Doom on TV, ace. I like his awkward hand-on-hip pose.

thanks for that - great!

Sheriff John Indolent

Seconded thanks for the De La and Doom clip. My already existing love for that track is now boosted further by the masked man's 'i'm a little teapot' performing stance and Maceo's knowingly crap robotics.

Hopefully going to see De La at the Jazz Cafe soon. That clip's really whetted my appetite.

Just in case any of you haven't seen this....

XTC's puppet show to promote "Oranges and Lemons". Hilarious! I'm almost tempted to write RAOFLMAO, but no really, it is great.
