Dear Aubrey
I am great with child. My confinement is expected within a few short weeks and alas, the child's father has abandoned me.
As I am destitute I have no option but to put the child up for adoption in the hopes that a rich lady will bring him up to be a fine upstanding man like his father. However, as the months have progressed and my belly has swollen I have taken great comfort from the quickenings I feel from the babe contained within and even though I will never hear him call me 'Mother' I feel I must give the child a name which I can sob into my pillow at night. I have long been an admirer of yours and, as such, I would be honoured if you would give your blessing to the name I have chosen.
What do you think of 'Darren'?
Yours expectantly
Petula Dusty (Miss)
