The new "Ripper"?

Couldn't see a thread about this so I thought I'd see if anyone else has been following the news coming from the Ipswich area - its now up to a possible 5 women missing, with 3 bodies found:

Any VWs in the area?  Its been a while since we had a spate of killings like this in the UK hasn't it?  Bets on how long before they have someone in custody?

the bit that intrigues me is this:

Ms Nicol, 19, vanished on October 30. Her body was discovered on Friday at Copdock in the same stretch of water.

Although both women were naked neither had been sexually assaulted. Nor were there obvious signs of violence to either body.

Police say there are "striking similarities" between their deaths but further tests are needed to establish how they died.

they seem to get solved very quickly I meant - but it does take all the fun out of it....  if this is a single killer he's obviously planned ahead which makes it more disturbing

How do we know that the killer is a "Ripper"? He will be a ripper if he's cutting them up with things and taking their bits and pieces out, unlike the Yorkshire variety, who wasnt so much a "Ripper" as a "Hammerer".

The Yorkshire ripper was a ripper though, though he may have been trying to copy Jack a little.

They named him Ripper because his quarry were prostitutes (or what he thought were prostitutes). And that he did a bit of ripping here and there.

It would appear thatit was this monikor that aroused Weirside Jack so much.

The last seriel killers I remember (apart from Shipman) was the guy in Blackpool who really seems more of a mass murderer (think he only got three) and then, when I was at school there was a guy in London preying on Gays.... Not Des. Any others? In the UK/Eire I mean.

I just did a search on Google "Serial killer uk" to see what the foriegn press were saying about this and at the top of the page it had a link to all the serial killer stuff I have been looking at on the PC (rather a lot considering my connection with Shipman and my general - morbid? - interest).
