A very obscure channel called UKTV People (Sky 566) is reshowing Have I Got News For You from the very first episode, starting Monday 10pm and continuing on every weeknight at the same time.

EDIT: Starting *last* Monday as it turns out (damn these channels that show trailers for new series after they've started), so Monday 14/03/2004 will be Series 1, Episode 6 and so forth.

Quote from: "Purple Tentacle"Is it?

Yes.

If you're quick it might be up on the website:

Although that bit may not be on the stream. Can't remember if it's the whole thing or not.

This'll be up to my usual dismal standard of accuracy, but word on the street is that Simon Pegg is on Jonathon Ross tonight (BBC1)

or possible his BBC Radio 2 show tomorrow, but I think it's the telly one.

perhaps.

There's nothing about Simon Pegg being on tonight:

(But  Martin Freeman is on).

And there's also nothing about Pegg being on tomorrow:

(But Dylan Moran is on).

Tonight on BBC2 a second series of programmes following the police to find Paedophiles. The first was on a year and a half ago 'The Hunt For Britains Paedophiles'. This one focuses on the interent usage of paedophilies and includes the police questioning of Pete Townshend. Could be hard to watch in places.

Vermschneid Mehearties

Yes, I'll be watching that. Just for research purposes, mind.

gazzyk1ns

Heh, yeah, the last one contained some... baffling...bits. Like repeated scenes of coppers browsing through loads of child porn and saying "Oh no....ooh dear, look at this one... oh dear... this one is particularly bad, it shows [whatever]... oh goodness... oh no...".

I mean, as if he's going to get to a particular set of photos and say "well this isn't too bad... tastefully shot... ha, yes, the lighting in this one is superb...Oh dear, we're back to the 'bad' section of all this child porn now, how disappointing..."

The Other Boat Race

As a tribute to the 150th University Boat Race, two crews of Oxbridge educated celebrities are challenged to complete one of sports greatest events, coached by Britain's greatest rowing Olympians.

Only notable because Richard Herring's in it.

It's on every night this week, but I missed last night's so I don't know if it's interesting beyond its herring content.

[edit - It was on at 8.30 tonight. My mistake.]

Very interesting indeed, glad I caught it.  There's another one same time next week.

A question - i'm presuming that the people arrested during the program agreed to have their names and faces broadcast on TV.  Why?  Lots of cash on offer perhaps?  Pete T presumably agreed with the idea that it would help clear his name (to a certain degree).......

The Boy who's skin fell off

QuoteReview
The last few months in the life of Jonny Kennedy, an amazing 36-year-old who, since birth, has suffered from a rare genetic skin condition (Epidermolysis Bullosa, or EB), where any knock or friction means his skin blisters and literally comes off. Jonny has now been told that, as a result of EB, he has terminal cancer and has just months to live.

But far from bemoaning his lot, Johnny is planning to make the last days of his life as exciting as possible. Not only does he organise his own funeral, but he also moves into his own home, goes gliding and visits Downing Street to talk about Debra, the fundraising charity for the condition. Every so often a documentary comes along that is absolutely extraordinary, and this is one of them. Jonny's courage should be applauded.

I'll be watching Johnny if any good could be worthy of it's own thread.

I'm starting this one early. BBC4 are showing Easy Riders, Raging Bulls on 5 April at 10.20pm-12.20am.

This was made into a Documentary from the book by Peter Biskind. It tells the story of film making during the 60 and 70's, the real golden era of films when so many great films were made, you know them all. The actors, directors, drugs, counter culture that influenced them.

Here is a link for further info on the Documentary.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcfour/documentaries/features/easy-riders.shtml

Here also are some audio clips about some of the people who appear in the film. But the clips aren't taking from the Documentary.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcfour/documentaries/features/easy-riders-audio.shtml

I advise everyone to buy the book now, and watch the programme of course on April 5th. Think I'll start a thread in GB nearer the time to get it more attention.

fuck fuck fuck i need digital. easy riders raging bulls is such a good book. i'm getting another angle on that period now, reading robert evans' autobiography. guy's a bit of a nob but he knew everyone in h'wood.
you know when you read something you have an inside-your-head voice? when i read the kid stays in the picture i can't help but imagine it's bob evans saying this stuff, and he sounds just like kevin arnold

Bilko

If you can't get digital or don't want it the Doc  is already available on DVD smoker.

time to phone up your mates with Sky Movies and ask them to set the video

Pete and Dud's original Bedazzled, 00:30am

Purple Tentacle

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory: Channel 5, 6:05

Classical, seminal but not as good as the book Dahl-hated dark kid's film.

Kinda required viewing really, especially considering what else are you going to be watching at that time of day?

QuoteIn This World (15) (FILM) 2002 Premiere. A pair of Afghan refugees decide to head for London, and set out on a perilous journey from a camp in Pakistan to the UK, striving to elude those who would stop their search for asylum. Michael Winterbottom's incredibly powerful but frequently harrowing drama was filmed documentary-style and is largely improvised, which contributes to the shocking sense of immediacy. Jamal Udin Torabi, Enayatullah, Imran Paracha and Hiddayatullah star (Stereo)

Damn sounds like a mighty fine filum, though I wanted to watch that melgibson profile on c4 too. I might have skip and hop before settling on one.

Bollocks, I missed this. I'll probably have to wait til crimbo now. It is indeed required viewing - even if the miniature David Dickinsons piss me off a bit.

Was it obvious I'm not sure of the correct spelling of 'Oompah-Lumpah'?

On five now - Judge Dredd. Just at the good bit where you see the ABC Warrior for the first time.

EDIT:
Nope, it's gone now. You'll have to wait ages to see the robot again.

i watched this, found it pretty hard to get into till they reached europe when i started to recognize situations, which was when i started to empathize with the characters. the scene in the container was pretty bad. i had no idea what was going on, thought they were just freaking out due to claustrophobia.
weird seeing tariq from enders in it as well
