Worst websites

Radar

It's not a criticism of the whole website, you understand - I like to get a lot of my faintly inaccurate information from Wikipedia, but when I looked up 'Entertainment', I was surprised to see what was offered immediately as a prime example.

We're all on broadband now Grandad. Flash content is fine! (As long as the layout of the site doesn't obstruct the content)

That freitag site is genius, completely awful design

Truly, truly godawful. One of the ugliest websites I've ever seen, but the content is really something else. Check out this disgusting review of Blade 2, but keep a bucket close by:

http://www.aintitcool.com/node/11793

"Blade 2 was just pussy-licking. Hellboy is deep dicking!"

*Shudder*

Blimey, that Blade 2 review's shocking isn't it, I know it's supposed to be humourous but it fails on all levels for me. I like some of the reviews on Aint It Cool, but do tend to skip Harry's as they're so oddly written. The talkback's are normally funny though, mainly as it's a mix of teenagers calling each other twats and arguing whether Lost is better than Heroes, and more serious posts.

The website for the company I work for is pretty crap: http://www.idmtickets.com/

None of the people pictured on that site have anything to do with the company at all

we definitely don't wear those headset things, and no-one here has ever worn a tie

They made a promotional video for the place where I work, which features neither a) anybody who works here nor b) the place where we work.

Our official website is also spectacularly awful, but more than my job's worth, squire.

This is by far the worst I have seen in a while.

This was linked from here a few weeks ago: http://www.peacehavencouncil.co.uk/

It's a work of crackpot genius, probably cooked up on Microsoft Front Page '97 or something. Their address scrolling left to right  so you can't read it is a particular highlight.

Why do they have a creepy clown with balloons for the "Getting married?" bit? Was it really so hard to find wedding related image that they had to say "Fuck it, I'll just use this animation of a creepy clown with balloons, people will know what I mean"

beast tube. Don't search for it or go anywhere near it. It is too horrifying for words. But I suppose you were talking about worst designed not content.
I'm sorry, but you've intriuged me. Can you tell me what it is that is so horrific about it? I want to know, but I do not want to risk brain damage by searching anyone other than wikipedia for info.

Paranormalhandy

Type "Beast Tube" into Google, and then - like some of the site's participants, presumably - yelp in horror and shock.

Jesus Christ thats unbelievable. Look at their 'portfolio', which seems to be made up of loads of sites all about conservatories, which all look the same!

Labian Quest

There's a list here, it looks like some of them have sorted their sites out since they were nominated though,

http://www.webpagesthatsuck.com/10-worst-web-pages-featured-on-web-pages-that-suck-in-2006.html

This one is bad:

http://www.redbloodclub.net/

I've just noticed that Jesus one is on there too.

OK, the website itself is acceptable, but if you were running an airline would you put news items in the middle of the front page like

The fatal crash of a Grumman Turbo Mallard....
ALPA Says Pilot Work Rules Are Unsafe
Recent reports raising concerns about the FAA's approval -- or lack of approval -- of many GPS units for instrument flight have raised questions that ...

"Experts in web design", hahaha!

Well, their front page does contain this little gem:

QuoteThen £20.00 per lunar month for hosting/management fee

So they've not done that bad for a bunch of loonies, have they? (My bold, BTW)

Seriously, that's got to be a sophisticated hoax, hasn't it? Surely? Dear God let it be a hoax...

Hehe, with Firefox + Flashblock I can see that there are four Flash items on the left - when clicked, they DO NOTHING

Make me smile

It seems Peacehaven council are having a website overhaul...I think we're all going to miss the tapping shoes.

http://www.peacehavencouncil.co.uk/

Does anyone have the link for the Christian laptop refurbishment website? It was posted on here aaaages ago, but I can't find it.

mothman

And so an era ends. . .

Pseudopath

Gutted. What they've gained in design and accessibility, they've lost in character and charm. Now Peacehaven just looks like any old random idyllic East Sussex town, rather than a bunch of yokels who only got electricity last week. Bah!

The new site is now active, and sadly, it's quite good. I'm going to ask the webmaster if they could archive the old site somewhere. Just for old times' sake, like.

Edit: Done. I do not expect a reply.

Bar the useless resource-hogging Flash images and scrolling Java bollocks, yes I agree. Oh, and disregard the other crap bit of Flash that says "Find out 'WHAT'S ON' near you" Good to see a bit of unnecessary mis-used punctuation.

"Sponsored by Aztech Industries". Yet another wanky Flash movie at the bottom. They have a long way to go. It was 1997, now it's 2002.

El Unicornio, mang

The gifs on the 2002 version of the site are, incredibly, even worse than the ones they had last month

Despite being "updated" in 2007, Gary Glitter's site looks like an artefact from 1996

http://www.garyglitter.tk/

Ye gods (I haven't gone to the site in case the filth are monitoring me), how on earth did you come to search for Gary Glitter's site?

Sorry, no animal fucking or local councils, but considering its 2007 I think http://www.7dayshop.com is in dire need of updating.

That said, you can get a bargain there.

Oh, and http://www.maplin.co.uk/ has recently been updated, yet it still looks a little amature.
