Bat Gandhi wants to help you mong, but you have to help him, help you.

Post your tips, tutorials, and links in here.

mook

These are pretty good* and cover the basics of PS7, and I guess the same principles are applied in PSP6 and up.

They are all in that Quicktime thing, be warned that the blokee doing the narration sounds like Stephen Hawking on ludes.

you need to click this bit to 'ave a butchers.

I've got a shitload more bookmarked on the other puter, I'll post 'em up later.

EDIT..some of THESE are good, especially the colouristion ones and the blending layer masks.

*that fucking Larry David, I'm unconsiously using that phrase all the time.

Almost Yearly

In just seven days
I can make you a mooooo- o- o- o- ong.

Oooh, pearl necklace.

Any layman's tips for Paintshop Pro 7 welcome.  I'm crap at technical stuff, me.

@ssmaster

Right, I'm gonna ditch PSP8 and get familiar with PS7 once and for all, I want to be in the potatoshop gang. That worth1000 tutorial looks great mook.

MonkeyDrummer

what about where to host your pics, i know it mentions it in another thread but if you'r gonna mong, you need somewhere to hang your art

mr rou-rou

this is what you need,

for existing users

QuoteThanks to all our users for your donations, feedback and support. Photobucket.com is now one of the largest image hosting and online photo album sites in the world, and we continue to rapidly grow.

so I suspect that means it will soon become a pay to use service, but at the moment it's tip top, I think most of the whores have accounts

I have made you all a lovely tutorial on the brushes palette in a shiny pdf you can find here:

http://chilled.cream.org/vwpics/brush-tutorial-pdf.rar
(right-click - save as - 2mb)

& also the completed psd for you to pick through here:

http://chilled.cream.org/vwpics/brush-tutorial.rar
(3mb)

I've made it exhaustive, simple and enlightening & I hope you like it.
(& please ignore occasional sloppy punctuation)

terminallyrelaxed

Thanks ccab, that was good, followed it for a while but came a cropper as its obviously for PCs - managed a bit of it but your keyboard shortcuts don't apply in Macs I don't think, unless I always had the wrong thing selected...

ccab

Yes - sorry about that - they were pc shortcuts, so read apple key for ctrl. Cheers for the feedback - if I put together any more of these things, I'll remember the Mac users.

@ssmaster

I need some help, can anyone show me or at least point me in the right direction on how to do good water reflections. I did a mong in the 'Fat Hairy Rocker' thread and I'm not happy with the water reflection. I'm using PS7 btw.

mook

Try making a few duplicate layers of the layer you've wish to use as the reflection, and then just arse about with the different blending modes and opacity in the layers palette. Overlay, soft light and multiply (a combination of these set to diferent opacities) all will work. When you've got a result you're happy with apply a layer mask to it and paint out what you don't need with a large soft brush set to a low opacity. Add a guassian blur, again just arse about with it until it looks natural. You could also try running Filter>distort>ripple or filter>distort>Ocean ripple to it.

It really is just a matter of trial and error though.

sproggy

Anyone know any good links or pointers on basic animation using PS7?

Ta much

fanny splendid

Did you get a copy of ImageReady with your Photoshop 7?

If you do...

Prepare all the elements of your animation in photoshop, and place each one on a separate layer.

At the bottom of the side button bar, there is a larger button which will automatically open, and transfer your file to ImageReady.

At the bottom of your screen, there is an animation window. Clicking on the new frames icon will of course create a new frame of your animation.

Now turn off and on the visibility of each of your layered elements, depending upon what you want to appear in that frame of your animation.

Here is the .psd file for my 'Goldfish' animation, for you to play around with.

sproggy

Cheers fanny, you are indeed a great asset.

Time to play!

Elliot

Which one should I get?

PS7 or PS8 ?
is PS 8 ok to use as I have PS7 now but I'll have PS 8 in about 10 minutes.
Local Chemist nearby selling them of course.

I've been using PSP fora while now and it does its job, but I hear all you lot going on about photoshop so I may as well join the masses if I want any help.

mook

PS8's got a few clever little gizmos like being able to attach text to a path, a better file browser and a feature that helps with colour matching. I'm sure there a quite a few more improvements but I can't really tell 'cos I can't get my fucker to work. I got a keygen from some nice whore over a Soulseek, which apparently should do the trick, but I'll be buggered if I can get PS CS to accept it.

Oh well, I'll have a nother bash in a minute.

untitled_london

i think i have a serail lying aroun, and the tewo files thta operate the crack both work fine (he says)

i'll happily PM them to you if you want...

A couple of tutorials that might help with the Tattoo thread. They deal quite simply with displacement maps.

Im hoping someone can do a tattoo for me back. Im may attempt a go myself.
All I need now is a photo of my back.

I still have pspro installed, how do i get the plugins to work for PS8  can I just point it to the folder or will I have to re-instal again.?

Edit:
quite a few 'back"s in that last sentence....

mook

As far as I know most 3rd party plugins that work with PSP will work with PS, just drop them into the plugin folder of PS.

To be honest with you most plugin filters look shit though, I know it doesn't matter when you're just monging for the whores but you'd be better off googling for a tutorial that teaches you how to make the effect you are after.

Ohh, hark at me trying to sound all clever.

Elliot

sorted, just pointed to my plugin folder in psp an dits rocin.

Ever since I first got Photoshop it's always baffled me how these were made

Now after a bit of nagging from the worth1000 regulars DerAlt
has made a tutorial. Worth a look at if you're interested like.;-)

Some stuff from the bloke who made the cubism tutorialhttp://www.deralt.smugmug.com/

untitled_london

one of the guys @ [H] put this list up - not tried it yet.

apparently he has a bunch more, and i have a few two add to the list too.

i wonder if anyone will volunteer to go thru the list and categorise it ;)
