For those who don't read B3ta:

An American sells a bottle of the oldest known bottle of beer with an accompanying handwritten letter.  He gets $304 for it.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270132264843

The buyer sells it on for $503,300

Just by spelling the name of the beer correctly.  Spelling does matter!

Still Not George

I'm almost ashamed to admit that my first response was, "I wonder how it tastes?"

Tokyo Sexwhale

It tastes like ashes to the first seller.

At least collectordan left positive feedback.

QuoteSTELLAR bottle! Rarest bottle ever sold on E-Bay...BAR NONE! EXC SELLER! EXC!!!

Uncle TechTip

Some controversy detailed here over both the veracity of the high bids and the beer itself.

Beer does not sell for $500,000, and if it did it wouldn't happen on ebay would it?

The best I got on ebay was taking advantage using the gamecube game cube spelling mistake to make a few 10's of pounds.
