So, apart from the first trailer - which is for the Easter Monday 1991 show, the rest of it seems to be bits and bobs from the November 1991-January 1992 GLR run.

That sounds about right. The original tapes are packed away but I think were mostly live pause button edited to conserve space and I didn't bother to keep proper dates...

The Friday shows I thought were great because they were ostensibly a normal weekday afternoon local radio programme with the usual news, traffic, community information and playlisted music but then they pushed the format into strange territories. More subversive in many ways than a neatly packaged half hour comedy slot. The sheer amount of material done for the GLR shows is incredible too.

A friend of mine has just been going through some old tapes, one of which was the GLR show from 1/4/91, which couldn't see listed on here..so he asked me to post a link, which I now do:

God, doesn't time fly. I remember playing this immediately before going to a very bittersweet work Christmas do. And that was 5 years ago. Ugh.

Had a nice few days revisiting these GLR shows. Still amazing that we haven't had any more complete GLR shows since then, and indeed there is still more full Radio Bristol shows in circulation than GLR, which must have had 10 times the listeners each week.

If you have still got the original tapes, then I'd urge some fresh recordings of everything on them. Every link is something new and worthwhile, and if the paused content material is mostly music then that could be simply patched in with the official releases. It would be great to get some more full GLR shows out there - there simply isn't enough.

Thanks dude. Never heard this stuff before. That's awesome of you.

There is another handful of shows out there which have been available though this forum years ago, but which I never got at the time - or was too late to the party - and which I've not been able to get hold of since. My previous appeals are earlier in this thread, but if any lurkers or olde tyme members are out there and have any of the following shows, then please reupload them for us all.

21/10/90 | [Partial show]
04/11/90 | [Partial show]
10/01/92 | [Partial show]
25/05/92 | [Partial show]
15/05/93 | [Partial show]

Just a quick note on that 25/5/92 show, if anyone is remotely bothered - it's all from the right show, but not in the right order.  I notice the guide on the old forums had 3 parts listed - I suspect the single file available here is a patchwork of those parts, although I can't fathom out the joins.

Neil and Lfbarfe both supposedly have alternative, more complete sources for this show, from their cache of new tapes from 2013 (!). Hopefully they'll make their way online sooner rather than laaaaaater.

Come on you bastards, who's got the other two?

Ta.

Right, I see what's happened here. As you can hear on the intro, when it was first uploaded it was undated. Then someone at some point had given it the date of 10th January - which is the date you have. I redated to 17th January last year when noticing the reference to Mick Jagger's new daughter, born 12th January 1991, in the Jacques Oeuf bit. If I'm being pedantic, it could be an incomplete recording of the 1-hour edit broadcast on 19th January - there is a previous example of Morris recording an extra link at the end of those Sunday shows, but as this recording doesn't go that far I can't confirm that. Anyway, all the content comes from 17th January, so mark it down as that.

There is a supposedly near-complete recording of 10th January in Lfbarfe cache of tapes, which are currently in limbo.

I'll have to check my references to the other two lost shows from 1990 to make sure they did exist and were ever uploaded. At some point I've put the names of the recorders into the relevant pages on the wiki so that indicates they were shared at some point.

Hello everyone
Fixed the original links from page 1 of this thread.

Richcolour!

Excellent, thanks for sharing!

Kelvin

Amazing. Thanks so much.

His radio output is just electric, even now. Maybe moreso now.

Can't wait to listen to this.

Richcolour!

Thanks for the comments :) I found 42 cassettes, and will transfer a few per week til they're done.

Wow, thank you.

Ah, look at a giddy younger me getting all excited about these years and years ago earlier in this thread.

Richcolour!

Good morning all, here's 1 hour 17 minutes of CM's 9th December 1990 show.

Chris Morris GLR show 9th December 1990

This recording ends abruptly, because 34 years ago me thought that would be ok...

Richcolour!

Another tape done, there's a minute and a half of Danny Baker at the start. These links will be organised better soon.

Chris Morris GLR show 27th May 1990

In the early 90s Danny Baker's and Chris Evans' GLR shows were also fun and energetic. But Chris's presenting style was very unique and on another level. Clearly he did a lot of show-prep for a couple of hours on a Sunday morning.

Genuine question - are there any radio shows today that come close to this?

DJ Solid Snail

Glad I checked back in on the off-chance there was any new stuff - thanks once again, Rich! You're a star. Can't wait to listen to these. During lockdown I did meticulously edit all the (at that time) currently-available shows into individual tracks, ID-tagged all the composers for the songs and everything, ended up as 1352 tracks, ha. Had to keep my mind occupied somehow. Once I've edited in the new stuff I'd be happy to upload for those who want to navigate to certain bits, skip certain songs, whatever. Sounds like there's loads more coming though, which is fantastic. Did the same for the Radio 1 shows and Blue Jam, if there's any interest.

Cheers Rich!
