OK I may as well get in here first. Chriss Brass, who apparently broke his nose with this effort:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ds0wEBKuxv8

This one's about 25 seconds in if you want to skip Ian Wright's blokey banter. Lee Dixon, take a bow:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OiCzXpiDcqY

Last one, Peter Enckleman:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uC7D15uYXOI&feature=related

Yeah, most people will have seen them, but the same goes for Sovereign's.

Artemis

I did chuckle at the guy who felt compelled to make the wanker gesture right in front of that poor goalie's face in that last clip.

gmoney

I fucking love Matt Le Tissier, even if he did turn down Chelsea.  Though that he stayed loyal to Southampton despite loads of offers elsewhere is something else to admire. A proper flair player. Seems like a nice guy on Soccer Saturday too and he knows what he's on about.

Wolski

Pogue Mahone

I'll stick up a few Derry City goals seeing as the opportunity has arisen.

There were a few great ones in that match.

Another funny keeper error here:

Poor Shay.

Pogue Mahone

This one, from a game between local rivals Finn Harps and Derry City in 1989, was a bit similar to that Lee Dixon cracker:

Some more comical goals:

This video always makes me chuckle:

And these are just bizarre:

Full story here.

The response of the commentator is hilarious.

Anyway, some more scorchers:

Giggsy's 1999 FA Cup semi-final replay goal after running half the Arsenal team ragged. Brilliant match, brilliant goal.

Matt Holland's equalizer for Ireland in the group stages of the 2002 World Cup against Cameroon was just delightful.

Makes Tony Yeboah look like he was playing schoolboy football.

chand

Sure I've posted this before, but my favourite goal of last year was this one by Matuzalem for Shakhtar against Sevilla (in a crazy game where Sevilla's goalkeeper headed an equaliser at the death to keep them in it):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLOzEobfosU&NR=1

UNGLAUBLICH! The last couple of angles are the best on that one.

Ah this one's finally on YouTube, albeit in terrible quality. This was the goal by Ryan Giggs where he basically looked exactly like George Best.

I just love the outpouring of emotion that goes with some goals, where the commentator just seems to forget themself.  You will be able to tell which goals these ones are from the commentary alone.

"Aaaaaaaaah you beauty, what a hit son, what a hit!"

This is the sort of goal I imagine scoring when I'm on public transport. Bergkamp's improvisation against Newcastle.

I still can't tell to what degree he meant that.

Finn Harps

Ah, a name I hadn't heard since I last watched Danny Baker's 'Right Hammerings' video.  Possibly the least arsed keeping ever in this clip when they got stuffed 12-0 by Derby County.

Might be best if the clips are kept behind spoilers, it's taking yonks to open this page now.

Bergkamp again - his goal against Argentina in the 98 WC - everything about this goal is sublime, from De Boers 60 yard on a sixpence pass to Bergkamps control, touch and finish - and it was in the last minute as well...

And he'd already done it before v Leicester:

Here's another one of my favourites form one of my favourite players of all time:

Henrik Larsson scoring against Rangers in a 6-2 demolition (apologies to any bluenoses....)

And finally Lionel Messi showing that he is the new Maradona....

Edit: Steven583699 - of course he meant it - it's Dennis Bergkamp!!!

micanio

Forgot to add this one:

Zidane, doing what he does...

micanio

Seeing as we are talking about Argentina.....

That goal gives me goosebumps....

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=2D8IW_3_6D8

Best Vs Spurs

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=sTJagmYLWZ4

My favourite ever goal against us
Henry Vs Manchester United

Best goal I have ever seen
Maradonna Vs England

Eric Cantona Vs The Arse

And a montage tribute to possibly my all time favourite United player

dmillburn

Phil Clarkson's backheel for Blackpool v Northampton from 1988

A little touch of magic from my personal favourite player:

Davies said it was the only time he nearly 'gave himself away', as he steadfastly refused to answer the oft-asked question on who he supported.

Compare Davies to the verbal-shite merchants we have today (Johnathan Pearce, anyone? Alan Fucking Greene?). No contest...

Beagle 2

Dalian Atkinson, one of my favourite goals of all time, it's the sheer composure at the end of that run, sublime.

Bit of a self indulgent one, Kinkladze against Saints:

And everybody who jizzes over Scholes's Bradford goal forgets about this one:

You omitted Clive "remember the name, Wayne Rooney" Tyldesley with all his rehearsed excitement from that list.  Andy Gray is pretty similar in his use of apparently pre-prepared lines when he wants to give something gravitas, but I picked that Gerrard scoring clip up there because I'd never thought I'd hear him lose it to a Liverpool goal.

I can picture that Giggs goal against QPR with Alan Partridge's "Yes, yes, yes, yes YES!" commentary.

I've been looking for a few clips with Motson (he can be annoying, but he can come out with some fantastic stuff) commentating, namely:

"Oh yes!" Gascoigne v Scotland

"Augentahler couldn't do it, Lineker probably could!" (absolute nonsense, but great stuff) - Lineker v Germany

"ALFONSOOOOO!" - Alfonso v Yugoslavia (the goal after 5 minutes of injury time in Euro 2000)

Sunday league players all around the country are going to be in casuality this sunday trying to replicate Ronaldo's tiptoe step just before he smashes the ball in.  In case you've been under a rock, here's his free kick against Pompey:

surreal

2 touches from Robbie Fowler:

I can't find a good short clip of Gerrard's goal against West Ham 2006 FA Cup Final, but its another one for the Motty "name that goal" collection.... "Gerrard.... HE'S GOT IT!!!!"

Seeing as nobody, apart from actwithoutwords, seems to have listened to what I was saying earlier re spoilers, I'll reqeuest it again, this time in bold and capitals, with a little bit added:

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PUT YOUR YOUTUBE CLIPS BEHIND SPOILERS.  IF YOU DON'T SPOILER THEM IT MAKES THE PAGE TAKE AGES TO LOAD UP (EVEN ON A DECENT BROADBAND CONNECTION) AND IS FRUSTRATING TO SAY THE LEAST.  PRETTY PLEASE PUT YOUR TOUTUBE CLIPS BEHIND SPOILERS.  THANKS IN ADVANCE!

Pogue Mahone

I just came across this "strangest goals" article and thanks to it, have found these two:

Spoiler alert

Quote from: RTÉVanderlei (Cruzeiro 0 Atletico Mineiro 4, April 2007) - An extraordinary lapse of concentration by Cruzeiro goalkeeper Fabio allowed Atletico Mineiro striker Vanderlei to score the fourth goal in the Belo Horizonte derby.

After conceding the third goal, Fabio was still looking for the ball in the net and had his back to play as Atletico scored again.

He apparently failed to notice as Cruzeiro kicked off with a different ball and passed it backwards.

The ball was intercepted by Vanderlei who, rather unsportingly, shot while Fabio's back was turned.

A furious Fabio then picked two balls out of the net and remonstrated with the referee to no avail.

Spoiler alert

Quote from: RTÉGary Crosby (Nottingham Forest 1 Manchester City 0, March 1990) - Similar to [Dion] Dublin's goal [where he sneaked up behind Shay Given to steal the ball and put it in the net, as shown in an earlier post] but even more ingenious.

The Forest winger was waiting behind Andy Dibble when the City 'keeper picked up the ball.

As Dibble held it out on his outstretched hand deciding whether to throw it or not, Crosby nipped around the keeper, nodded the ball out of his hand and rolled it into the net - a move recreated on playgrounds and park pitches ever since.
