Threadless (the fantastic shirt thread)

Just found this site, http://www.threadless.com, and am absolutely blown away by some of the shirt designs on here. Apparently they're open to submissions and the best ones get made into a limited stock of shirts. It's hard for me to pick the best ones as examples because they're all so fantastic, but just so you get the jist of it:

Yowzer. There are so many shitty shirt websites around, it's hard to find ones with subtle humour or gorgeous designs, I just feel like I've stumbled on a goldmine.

Does anyone else have any like-minded sites they'd like to share with the public? Or maybe you yourself own a gem of a shirt and would like to give us some poseur in front of the mirror shots, please do.

The bad thing about that site is they only accept credit cards, not debit cards. I don't have a credit card. That said, there's only a few t's I'd actually buy there.

Hank_Kingsley

I've been buying t-shirts there for a few years now. S'nice.

If you take a load of pictures of yourself wearing the t-shirts you can get $$$ off your next purchase. Oooh. Points.

I don't bother though.

It's nice that they're relatively limited runs as well (or, used to be...I don't really shop there any more), reduces the chance of same-outfit fashion nightmares. Which are terrible of course.

What!! Fuck's sake... [close tab, delete bookmarks]

I've bought on my debit card there many times before... I used to love that site, it's a bit rubbish now though. Too many obvious and cliched ideas- barcode zebras, black sheep in a white flock, women with birds/flowers/trees for hair, etc. Cheap as chips mind, look out for their sales. Even at full price and with a delivery charge they still work out cheaper than t-shirts here.

I also used my card on there a few times in the past. Haven't been on for ages.

I like this site; http://www.lafraise.com/ and http://www.airsideshop.com/

The majority of my day-to-day wardrobe is threadless, in fact I'm wearing two shirts right now. When I did feedback with my students last term I got three forms complimenting my t-shirts because of it, too. I will naturally append this information to any CV.

As well as waiting for the $10 threadless sales to come round, I'm signed up to t-post: http://www.t-post.se/gallery.asp?issue=34. Every six weeks or so they send out a new t-shirt, based on an off-beat news story. The story is summarised on the inside of the shirt so you know what it's about. I really like it - there've been some great designs, and my life is sufficiently slow-paced that I really like the excitement of seeing what the new shirt is when it comes. Although that backfired when I opened the last one, which was a great colour, but sadly adorned with a clown, so I can never wear it because I can't stand clowns.

I love tshirts, and will never cope with having a grown-up job with grown-up clothes.

I really like Amorphia Apparel's stuff.  So far I only have this one, but I think I'd buy about half the shop if money (and storage) weren't an issue!

Oh help, I hadn't come across Amorphia Apparel before, and now I think I need everything they've ever stocked.

Good show sir. The Science! shirts are awesome, especially:

BustedTees is pretty shitty half of the time, but dig around and there are some great shirts.

In fact you don't even need to dig around to find this one, it's on the first page:

It's a shame most people wouldn't get the typo and explaining it may result in violence.

Woo! They have an In the Aeroplane Over the Sea design. Done and done.

I also wear too much threadless, I'm wearing one at the moment actually. Arguable decline in quality of designs aside, the quality of their own brand t shirts is fantastic. Much better than the ones they had used previously.

Why is it cheaper to buy from Amorphia Apparel in the US than from Amorphia Apparel in the EU?  Just exchange rates, or something more sinister?

I like the balloon suicide one:

This is my favourite threadless design ever:

I ordered one and it got lost in the post! Now they won't reprint it :(

Maybe, historically, it's actually correct.

Thanks for the recco, I've just picked up a couple. Both on Fruit of the Loom, which I pretty much swear by these days, one of the few brands I've found which hold their shape.

Vitalstatistix

I got a cool one from Threadless a few years back but I can't find an image of it anywhere.

It's an ice cream van man trying to push a giant walrus out of the way.

I haven't seen a design I like better than that ever.

Please tell me what t-shirt site that's from!

There you are sir. It's an eBay shop. There's a couple other good ones lurking about on there too but of course the BrassEye one is best.

I like the were #1 shirt, it's really clever. And I like this one from Amorphia Apparel:

although I'm not sure I'd be brave it enough to wear it out anywhere.
