OK, a couple of things first: This is not intended to duplicate the existing threads about the DVD, and nor is it a platform to continue to discuss the quality of them.

Quite simply, if you can't get them to work, or can't be bothered to sit through endless menus to get to them, this is a quick guide to how to get them off the disc, so that you can watch them by themselves on your computer, or put them onto a new DVD.

(You need a DVD drive and, ideally CD burner)

1) Download DVD Shrink and install.

2) Put the DVD in the drive, click 'Open Disc' in DVD Shrink, select the drive with the disc in and click OK.

3) Click 'Re-author', and you'll get a list of everything on the disc. Although you can watch any of the tracks, you will not be able to rip this with DVDShrink, as they are protected

4) From the DVD Browser, open 'VTS 1' then 'English'. you now get a list of the menus on the disc, which you can drag over to the 'DVD Structure' box. On disc two, the ones you want are 'Menu 2', 'Menu 3' and 'Menu 4' (for short Morris/Partridge chat, conspiracy chat and reunion, respectively) - you can preview an item by clicking it, thenclick the play button at the bottom right pane.

5) Click Backup, and select a location for the files.

** At this point, you have a DVD stucture. You can burn it on to a CD, and play it on a PC (or some standalone DVD players), which will recognise it as a DVD **

If you want to make a DivX or MP3 file, download 'Gordian Knot' from doom9.net. Install first the rip-pack, then the codec pack.

If you want a DivX, follow the instuctions on the Doom9 site. If you only want an MP3, which seems more appropriate, given the format of the material, follow the instructions below.

1) Open Gordian Knot

2) From the 'Ripping' tab, click 'DVD2AVI'

3) Click 'Open' from the 'File' menu, and select the VOB file you want to convert.

4) Go to 'Output Method' on the 'Audio' menu, and ensure that 'Demux all tracks' is ticked.

5) From the 'File' menu, select 'Save Project', and tell it where to put the files (ideally, it should have a folder to itself).

[repeat steps 3-5 for each VOB]

6) Close DVD2AVI, click 'Open' (bottom right corner of GKnot) and navigate to your d2v file.

7) On the video window that appears, click 'Save & Encode', do the same with the next window that appears, and tell it where to put the .avs file (you don't need to worry about this unless you're encoding the video, so just call it anything)

8) On the encoding panel, select the .ac3 file created when your .d2v file was created - it will have more or less the same name, but with some other stuff after it.

9) Select "MP3 128 kBit/sec. average Bitrate"

10) Click "Add Audio-Job to Encoding Queue (no Video!)"

11) Click "Yes" to start encoding, and repeat from step 6 (apart from the bit about closing DVD2AVI) for your remaining clips.

That's it!

I know it looks a bit long-winded, but it really is very easy and quick. Let me know if you have any problems.
