Just a note for those who don't venture in to the Wishy Washy General Bullshit section of the forum - I'm going to be playing the Morris Radio 1 shows from 1994 in sequence on Wednesday nights in their original time slot, 9pm. So, tune in at 9pm tonight for the 1st show (original tx: 1/6/1994) - the embedded radio player on the left won't work, as I'm using AAC for increased audio quality over MP3 at low bitrates.

This is the link: http://cabradio.servebeer.com:8000/listen.pls

I'll be in the chatroom from about 8.45pm with test card music to allow you to get set up.

For those who didn't listen on Wednesday or last night, show 1 can be found here - http://www.megaupload.com/?d=L8RJR8QQ - as a very high quality variable bit rate MP3.

Wow, that's quite an improvement on the one I have already.  It'd be nice to use this as the 'official' C&B download of this show at http://www.cookdandbombd.co.uk/forums/index.php?page=r1show , I presume Neil and yourself wouldn't have any problems with this?

Yeah deffo, I'm gonna update on that this week, I really must stop being so lazy, especially as I want the whole site back up and rebuilt in time for the tenth anniversary in August.

Anyway yeah, I hope we'll see some discussion of the shows in here in future weeks, it's really exciting to me, especially seeing that some folks last week were hearing the R1 stuff for the first time.  My heart will always belong to the 1993 GLR run - partly as I like Morris doing his own thing instead of relying on collaborators - but there's absolutely no denying that the partnership between Morris and Baynham was a very, very special one, and these 1994 shows were unarguably a peak in both of their careers.

Fuck me! How long have you been sitting on that full edit?! Been wanting to get my hands on this for a long, long time - cheers very much!

Not wanting to sound greedy, but I don't suppose you've got one lined up for the Heseltine show, do you? It's the only other one of the circulating shows I can recall being incomplete and/or with bits of bad quality, perfectly listenable though it is. Oh, hang on, there's also the second show - the one with the politics discussion, the Remembrance Week report and the one in which Baynham says "fuck." Apart from those two now, I think they're all out there in full.

Given how often I reel these suckers out for a listen, it's fantastic I've now got show one in perfect quality. Nice one, Louis!

Since 1994, Beck, but it was recorded on a shit cassette deck with a dodgy azimuth. I've only just worked out how to adjust my current machine to compensate.

Show 2, in similarly excellent sound quality, is on CaB radio now - http://cabradio.servebeer.com:8000/listen.pls - with a repeat on Sunday at 9pm. There will be a download available after that. I recorded all but one of the shows, and the Heseltine was in there, but 15 years of house moves, etc, mean I can't lay my hands on all of the tapes like that. Will search when I get a moment and report back.

Have just located a TDK FE90 with 'Chris Morris Radio 1 6/7/94' written on the label in turquoise fountain pen. That's Heseltine, and I'm 99.9% sure it'll be a complete recording.

EDIT: Yep, all there, save for a tiny bit of Morris/Baynham dialogue missing where I turned the tape over (clot). Fortunately, it's on the existing encode, so I can patch it from that.

Fantastic! Looking forward to those...

(EDIT: Incidentally, you wouldn't have happened to record Lee & Herring's shows, would you? Now I am getting greedy for this stuff...)

Neil

The repeat of the second ep is now, playing from Louis' new capture - the first two IN FLAC will be up on the site this week :-D  Thank you again Louis, amazing upgrade news.

Neil

The repeat of #4 is on now, it's the best in the series so far, by quite a margin, brilliant show.  Would love to see some chat about it, or maybe skype you tonight if you're about.  Anyway, enjoy.
