It's just a horrific mask which, perhaps on purpose, looks nothing like the person it's modelled on (Larry from the Three Stooges) - the unlikeness, coupled with the fact that it's one of the scariest things I've ever laid eyes on, is what gives it its comedy factor. In my second shot, Neo is wearing the 'Moe' mask, another freakish Three Stooges incarnation which is a bit less funny than Larry.
