That top 50 posters list's confused me. Is it only the top 50 posters on the old board who can nominate?

Amon Tobin - Permutation (1998)
Massive Attack - 100th Window (2003)
U2 - Joshua Tree (1987)

No, no, but I think for this to be properly representational most of the top posters need to contribute. Which hasn't happened so far.

I have considered using the search feature to find threads where they have stated what their favourite albums are.

Example:
http://chilled.cream.org/vw/viewtopic.php?t=10248
Quote from: "Neil"Let's list them. The obvious one is the eponymous debut by The Stone Roses. I'm particularly interested in albums like that where the band NEVER again managed to live up to the standards they set for themselves. De La Soul had a similar problem,,,3 Feet High And Rising is easily one of the greatest debuts ever, but it took them over 10 years to get back on form.

Couple more cracking debuts to kick the thread off, The Breeders (best band ever) with Pod, and Belly with Star. Bellys another of those groups where a stunning debut seems to have become an albatross around their collective neck. King wasn't anywhere as sucessful, critically or comercially, and they split soon afterwards.
Quote from: "Neil"Carrying on on a Kim Deal tip, Pacer by The Amps is another exceptional debut album. The Amps were a side-project so Kim could keep releasing songs while waiting on the rest of The Breeders to sort themselves out. Originally planned as a solo act, which would have Kim playing all the instruments, she then decided to form a new band instead. They did one lovely album, which is like a rawer lo-fi version of The Breeders sound, and then split.
Hmmm, The Stone Roses is gone, the Belly one too...
561. De La Soul - 3 Feet High And Rising (1989)
560. The Breeders - Last Splash (1993) (Pod's been done)
559. The Amps - Pacer (1995) (Surfer Rosa's gone)
558. Porno For Pyros - Porno For Pyros (1993)

I've added an extra one because it's Neil.

Ah, you're right there. 557 will have to go.

Ok then replace 557 with Under the Pink by Tori Amos (1994?)

And if that's been taken Pickled eggs and Sherbert by All Seeing Eye

You've got to put the numbers before the albums. Taking that into account I'll start from 544

544. Elliot Smith – Elliot Smith (1995)
543. Swearing at Motorists – Never Seven Uptown (2000)
542. Etienne De Crecy – Super Discount (1996/2002)

I didn't put the numbers because I wasn't sure if Substance was going to be accepted... And I can't count backwards.

Bilko

Quote from: "imitationleather"I didn't put the numbers because I wasn't sure if Substance was going to be accepted... And I can't count backwards.

I wouldn't bother about that, there's a few on the list that are greatest hits/selection types. Take the Beta Band – Three Ep's, that's a collection of their first three E.P's on one album.
I'd go back and edit your original post though and insert the numbers before the albums, it makes it easier to copy and paste an update list of what has been posted so far.

Bagsey my go again

535. Death in Vegas – Dead Elvis (1997)
534. Lo-Fi Allstars – How to operate with a blown mind (1998)
533. Elliot Smith – Either/Or (1997)

The Plaque Goblin

'Substance' is mostly previously unreleased remixes isn't it? The Buzzcocks' 'Singles Going Steady' has about 3 or 4 album tracks on there.

QuoteSubstance is a double-disc set collecting New Order's singles, including several songs that were never available on the group's albums, at least in these versions. While there are a couple of re-recordings of earlier singles, most of Substance consists of 12" single mixes designed for danceclub play. Arguably, these 12" mixes represent New Order's most groundbreaking and successful work, since they expanded the notion of what a rock & roll band, particularly an indie rock band, could do.

I can't allow Peter's second Elliot Smith nomination though.

533...

Hey, was the Lo-Fi Allstars' eventual followup 'Don't Be Afraid of Love' up to much?

533. Dr Alimantado - Best Dressed Chicken In Town (dunno date)

Bilko

Quote from: "The Plaque Goblin"Hey, was the Lo-Fi Allstars' eventual followup 'Don't Be Afraid of Love' up to much?

When I first heard it I thought it was a heap of shit because it sounded nothing like Blown Mind. That was a year ago, I do think it probably deserves another listen though because Blown Mind was good.

Bilko

Looks like everyones packed in posting albums, didn't get past half way.

The Plaque Goblin
