Connecting films
« on: May 28, 2010, 01:30:07 PM »
I believe you can connect any film together from any genre or era...somehow.

For example, let's try to connect Deep Throat to American Beauty:

DEEP THROAT (1972)
starred
Carol Connors
who also starred in
RED LINE 7000 (1965)
with James Caan
who also starred in
THE GODFATHER (1972)
with Al Pacino
who also starred in
GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS (1992)
with Kevin Spacey
who starred in
AMERICAN BEAUTY (1999)

That worked out surprisingly sooner than I expected.

Okay, here's one for the next poster, who suggests one to the next and so on:

The Great Dictator to Die Hard.....

Clue:
Phil Silvers
This is kind of an extension of that I guess. Taking any film from any era and any country or any genre and connecting them through the actors. One might argue that 'of course it's possible if you're going to be that broad!' but I still think it's quite a bizarre concept.

I invented that game years ago as a sleep aid.  I was simultaneously devastated and ecstatic to discover that somebody else got there too.

I've tried to play this game too, but with little success. My brain goes all super-logical and starts linking any film with any other film in one step simply by virtue of the fact they're both films.

A sleep aid? That would do the exact opposite to me, I can't sleep when my brain is busy.

I'll give a shiny pound to anyone who can connect 'The Werckmeister Harmonies' with 'Porkys' in ten moves or less.

DISCLAIMER: Pound may not be shiny. Pound may actually consist of 68p in loose change as 'that's all I've got on me.' Competition will be rendered null and void if it turns out that somehow Henry Winkler was in both of them.

EDIT: Actually...
'Werckmeister Harmonies' stars LARS RUDOLPH, who's also in...
'Run Lola Run', which stars FRANKE POTENTE, who's also in...
'The Bourne Identity', which stars MATT DAMON, who co-stars in...
'Oceans Eleven' with BRAD PITT, who's in...
'Inglourious Basterds', directed by QUENTIN TARANTINO, as is...
'Death Proof', which stars KURT RUSSELL, as does...
'Big Trouble In Little China', which also stars KIM CATTRALL, who apparently is in...
'Porkys'.

I get to keep the pound.

James Whale's "Frankenstein" starred Boris Karloff
Who was in The Terror with Jack Nicholson
who was in Blood and Wine with Michael Caine
who was in Blue Ice with Sean Young - 'star' of Dr. Jekyll and Ms. Hyde

I intially tried the Ian Ogilvy route but then realised any link to Nicholson or Caine is like a triple word score or Rolling two 6's with these things. They've been with everyone
