Hey again fellow caterwauling forum members.

I am in seeking of competent blu-ray machine playing.  One with a very good Blu-ray player and DVD upscaling, that doesn't lock down on playing media files like Sony machines would be rather nice.  If it is possible to hack the DVD region that would be excellent as I have a number of R1 DVDs.  I was leaning towards this bad boy: http://www.rgbdirect.co.uk/ProductDetails.asp?SKUNumber=110241&Model=LG-BD560 however I can't find a DVD region hack which is obviously of concern.  I'm also not that bothered about wi-fi as I can hook it up every so often to a router for updates, and don't much care about youtube browsing with a remote.

Any suggestions?

The Masked Unit

My mate writes the majority of Blu Ray player reviews for this site (crap name-drop of the millennium) - should be able to get a good idea from reading around those few pages.

The LG models are supposed to be very good. I recently bought a BD-370 and can't really ask for more. At the time I bought it the 570 was coming out, and just looking at the model numbers, you'd be forgiven for thinking that the 570 would be an improvement with better specs and a newer build. User reviews tell a different story, however. Here is a good example.

I'd recommend you go for the 370 and don't be tempted by the overpriced 390 which has bells and whistles, but you'll hardly ever use them. I'm confident with my purchase and the pictures are astonishingly magnificent.

Toad in the Hole

I've been looking at this for a while, which is on offer - anyone used one, have any thoughts?  It doesn't seem to be reviewed on the site previously mentioned.
