Sorry for starting a new thread for something so selfish but I need help tracking down a free text adventure from nearly 10 years ago.

All I remember is that it starts in a hotel and you're a detective charged with investigating the murder of a young actress. Along the way you interview a man in a funk band called FunkZilla and if you're not careful you yourself are arrested as a suspect. I also remember there was a puzzle about finding which bin bag belonged to the victim and it took place in LA.

I'm sorry for being vague and cluttering the board up with a thread like this but it's killing me. Does anybody remember the name?

Is it The Hollywood Murders - http://www.goodolddays.net/0_0_0_0_0_0_0_0_0_0_0_0_0_0_en_0_614_show_4_0_0_0_18/

A game for Chandler fans: a private detective hired by a seductive 'dame' to find her husband who disappeared a few years ago. Of course, it's not as simple as this, and as you dig deeper into the shiny world of Hollywood, its studios and the people behind them, it all culminates in a number of grisly murders.

I'm assuming Raymond Chandler not Chandler Bing. Seems to tick your vague boxes of murder, young women and LA.

You can tell i have nothing to do on a Saturday night.....

I'm afraid not, cheers though. It's the young actress that dies.

In the Dead of Night?

It's a chalet, though, not a hotel.  I'll keep looking.

My game-obsessed other half says ''what format did you play it on? He also says is it possibly older than 10 years, as they stopped making text games about 20 years ago.

No idea on this one, but I've posted your description on NeoGaf, they're usually pretty good at these.

It's a long shot, but was it 'Guilty Bastards'

Apparently it does have a funk band in it called Funkzilla so you could well be right...

That's great stuff. Fry just informed me you found it, brilliant shout.
