Just seen the trailer for this film which is released in November.  Fact based drama about Aron Ralston, played by James Franco, who found himself in the unpleasant situation of having to cut his arm off after a hiking trip went to shit - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aron_Ralston.

Give away the ending why don't you? ;)  Looks good although I wonder how much of the film will be just him and the rock.

I still haven't seen Slumdog Millionaire. It was just one of those films that everyone was talking about and that put me off it. It's the only Danny Boyle film I haven't seen so I'll probably check it out soonish.

El Unicornio, mang

I didn't get into Slumdog that much but I've liked his other films and this looks good, plus it has her off Party Down in it which is a nice bonus.

This is now getting the old tried and tested pre-publicity treatment of reports of people fainting and fleeing from their seats. (I don't think I've ever seen anyone 'fleeing' from a cinema. Plenty of disgusted walkouts but no actual fleeing) There's an article in today's Independent that suggests audience members at the Toronto Film Festival found the arm-hacking scene especially tough going. I suppose you've got to drum up extra publicity for a film that everyone knows the ending to in some way.

El Unicornio, mang

Just hearing him describe what he went through in this vid was enough to make me light-headed. The bit where he explains having to cut a nerve is excruciating

Big Danny Boyle fan so I went to see it in its first week or two after release and long before the hype started to surround it. It is well deserved hype mind you but I can see why seeing it now you're going to be asking a lot of the film right from the outset. Its all beautifully shot and acted though regardless of how soppy and morally contentious you view some of the plot.
