More details about BB5 are starting to trickle out ahead of an expected full announcement later this week.

Today the launch night schedule - for Friday, May 28 - has been confirmed. Proceedings will kick off on C4 at 8pm with an hour-long Big Brother's Little Brother countdown, fronted by Dermot O'Leary. The main focus of the episode will be the auditioning process, featuring clips of the best and the worst hopefuls from around the country.

this program narks the tits out of me but I'll still be tuning in, last year I watched the entrance and the exit programs and about 20 minutes in between but I still knew what was going on due to everyone talking about it.

God yeah. Methinks me will be needing a new nick though. They have a good thread on Spammers and Trollers that I'd like to reply to. I'm going off to look for ideas in the corner.

another three months of the papers being full of complete shite (you could argue and say 'no change there then'), everybody around you talking about people who will be washed-up celebs by december.. i can't wait. really.

i'll do my usual thing of not watching it and saying "no, i don't watch that shite" to anybody who mentions it to me.

Hehe it's fascinating, everyone gets wound up about it, don't they? People who hate it, love it, and people who claim to be indifferent alike.

It just entertains me, in the most "callous" sense of the word - it provides something to watch and discuss at appropriate moments.

It's funny to see frustration and anger arise from people who don't like it, and some of the arguments they use are bizarre - like you're thick if you watch it, or that it's bad because the people in it are dull/stupid/whatever... I can't even begin to counter that, it's nonsense, a documentary about rapists contains nasty people but that doesn't mean you're nasty for watching it, just as watching thick people doesn't make you thick.

I wouldn't bother trying to troll/spam the DigitalSpy forum, for a number of reasons:

Firstly - except for BB threads - it's a fairly sane and useful place to be, and I wouldn't want to see them hassled.

Secondly, the moderation's pretty firm, and you won't get away with much personal abuse or anything like that.  They also require a real POP3 address for signing up, no webmail (hotmail/yahoo) accounts like that are allowed, ever since - guess what - trolling on the BB threads last year.

Thirdly, given that due to reason 2 you'll have to be more subtle about it, it'll probably sail right over your targets' heads, and will therefore be ultimately pointless.

In my humble - if pompous-sounding - opinion.

But if it was done in a nicely subtle way it would be far more entertaining for us here to read anyway, especially if the folks on the BB fora had no idea they were having the piss ripped out of them.

Indeed not.  That's what you get for skim-reading.

I'm in a strange boat when it comes to Big Brother.  I refuse to watch any other case of reality tv, whether it's celebrity led (I'm A Celebrity, Celebrities Disfigured, Celebrity Circumcision LIVE!), or the public based ones (Pop Idol, Fame Academy, Club Reps, Brain Surgeon For A Day).  But I have to say i really enjoy Big Brother and am thoroughly looking forward to the new series.  I just like theidea of 12 stangers stuck in a house together for 2 months without having a clue whats going on outside.   I'd think seriously about doing it myself if it wasn't for being a z-list celebrity by default and all the shit that comes with that.when you get out.  I like my anonyminity too much to have the balls to go for it for real.

Yep same here. I think it would be a right laugh to go on Big Brother... but the thing is, I would lose my anonymity and I would get drunk and shag some woman in there... resulting in my mum having to chat to loads of her friends about it and/or see me do it. I don't want that.

I nearly auditioned for last year's, my friends made a short film about me and everything... but I really didn't want to do it so it was never sent.

The thing is, as I get older, I am getting more and more desperate for £70,000 and the money that comes as a result of appearances after that... so I am more and more tempted each year. Not being an idiot, and being able to empathise quite well with people, I think I could stand half a chance. All you Big Brother haters can call me a dickhead if you want but you'd do the same if you didnt object to BB, it's the unecessary bias on your part which is the problem.

I could never do it. Like porn, it's one of those things you'd do if your parents were dead. I couldn't face having them realise what I was actually like. Having them read the stories in the paper from all the losers you shagged at university who crawled out of the woodwork to tell their story.
God no. I really don't care what anyone else in the world thinks of me - well, not enough to behave differently, but if my Mum and Dad had a bad opinion of me it would KILL me.

If my parents were dead though...

Nah, you're far too rational and boring to go on. You'd have to either have to make yourself into a lovable scamp, or a character from a politcally correct Bernard Manning joke. Or a fit bird with big tits and loose elastic.

I'm hoping the UK will be the first to feature sodomy... it took us a few years to catch up with the sex thing, but I think we have a chance at the first bum love. Come on Britain!

I was so happy on Saturday morning when I thought I'd missed the first night. Unfortunately I was a week early, which if I were being unkind to myself I would have to suggest meant that in fact I'm looking forward to it.

I'm staying one step ahead of the game this year, oh yes.  Previously I've made the mistake of saying, "It's crap - I'm not watching it!  ...Ok, just the first night.  ...Just to see if X and X shag/have a scrap/get their comeuppance.  ...I'll just watch the live coverage until someone gets up for a glass of water."  Until finally it's, "Well....I can't not watch the final!"

But this year, I am cunningly planning to watch every damn second, and also learn lip-reading, so I know what they're saying when they fade te sounds out.  Self-reverse psychology, y'see?

It's been designed to provoke more intense emotional reactions and such.

And here was i thinking it was built over an old ancient indian burial ground!

Think BB is interminably vacuous self-obsessed shite? Why not try NOT directly funding the programme through voting!

Simply pick up your mobile, text the words I AM EASILY ENTERTAINED to the council or your local ironmonger or someone, then violently throw the phone against the wall or floor, rendering it incapable of carrying out your trigger-happy support of things that are quite clearly bollocks.
