Good post DB

Can't help but think "I want a baby" was penned with one eye on the Ringtone market.

Thanks Desi, yes, as I say I'm not getting away from the fact that Hill had a certain degree of input, but I'm interested in the possible too-ing and fro-ing  between him and his 'people'.

One thing about the video is that he seems pretty reluctant to be there at all - and when he does appear he's very much on autopilot in the way that ApexJazz describes.

In case any of you haven't yet seen it- She Must Never Be Queen, equally redundant and puerile (with that most worthy of targets, Camilla Parker Bowles), but with an infuriatingly earworming chorus.

Features (I think) our friend Jonathan King, and the video features his characteristic creative use of iMovie's transition effects.

Sounds like "Parklife" remixed by Alexei Sayle. Only with the nauseating aspect of fixating the lyrical concerns on one well known individual.

The video showing him recording the song with those crappy transitions and then being applauded by those two guys in the studio is a rather smug concoction, isn't it?

Hmm. That works for me. It's fucking ridiculous; just bizarre yelling about a nothing subject. Which suggested to me it was a parody of tabloid hysteria rather than an arbitrary assault on Camilla Parker Bowles. I find it difficult to believe Harry Hill, as a comedian, would just write a song where all but the most extremely silly bits could have been lifted from a Jon Gaunt column from ten years ago. Any satirical merit in 'I Want A Baby' was undeniably invisible, but I think with this one it's ludicrous chest-beating tone suggests Camilla Parker Bowles isn't the actual target.

Of course, all of the above is rendered bollocks by the fact he chose to release 'I Want A Baby' as the first single so he's either unaware that no-one realises who he's really ridiculing or he genuinely thinks chav jokes are hillarious.

EDIT: Didn't realise 'She Must Never Be Queen' was so old. I thought it might indicate he was doing something subversive with the album, but he's clearly not then. He's peddling the same sort of topical songs he did five years ago that may have been amusing under the guise of his jittery, logorrheic, pop culture obsessed and ultimately insensible stage persona, but appear dubious now he's toned himself down into a mainstream act who's an extension of himself rather than a character. So, ignore.

I love that in the advert for his album, the lyrics for SuBo are:
'Subo... oh oh oh oh.'

Flatscreen TV: 'Flatscreen, flatscreen TV, flatscreen, flatscreen TV.'

Ken: 'Keeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen, Keeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen.'

Brilliant work, Harry Hill. That's almost up there with the likes of 'Imagine'.

For the record, in this interview http://www.thepost.ie/archives/2006/1105/when-harry-met-dali-18548.htmlwith an Irish paper, Hill is "at pains to point out that he's highly conservative".

That's a really interesting interview, actually, I've never heard him talk about why he left the medical profession in such detail before (I had the general gist, but not the whole thing).

That interview just makes me feel sad.

What's wrong with Brucie or Morecambe and Wise? The only thing troubling about the interview to me is that he is 'at pains to point out he's highly conservative' because as we all know, thats taking a shortcut to be a horrible human being. But at least he's come out and said it.

But conservative with a small 'c', which may make him a bit boring but not horrible. It's possible he's at pains to point that out because people expect him to be wacky and weird.

Wow that really does make I Wanna Baby look like genius

Shouting the names of the characters in soaps over its theme tune, punctuated by an inane chorus is not a recipe for a successful comedy song. The video is quite well done but uncreative, clearly it's just "let's get those guys who do those finger face things to do it"

Bloody hell, that's dreadful. There's not a single worthwhile, original, humorous or even noteworthy word in THE entire thing.

Did he run these by anyone before recording them?
