Awful game titles

Shamelessly stolen from the similarly titled film thread.

Anyway,

Which I just saw an advert for and made me titter very childishly. Bear in mind, in Ireland 'mickey' is a synonym for penis.

"Epic Mickey is part of an effort by The Walt Disney Company to re-brand the Mickey Mouse character by moving away from his current pleasant, cheerful image and reintroducing the more devious side of his personality"

I give up.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater.

I mean, really.

So they basically turn him into Venom Mickey. Throwing black piss at an Animaniac.

Genuine massive guffaw there :D

"Marc Eckō's Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure" was a somewhat unwieldy title for a surprisingly-quite-good game.

Jemble Fred

Hehe, we've been doing this in the office all week. My personal favourite is the racing game FATAL INERTIA – never has a title been so dramatically opposed to what you want from a racing game.

'Shadows of the Damned' fucks me off. About two-thirds of Xbox 360 games tend to be named by untrained birds picking random words out of a hat. Blood/Bullet/Shadow/Complex/Combat/Fire/Dead/Ops/Squad/Space... fucking YAWN.

The sheer genericity of:

  • Dawn of War
  • Men of War
  • Medal of Honor
  • Call of Duty
  • Company of Heroes

That Epic Mickey (teehee) pitch doesn't sound very promising, but Warren Spector's been talking about it as a return to the much older 'cheeky bastard' type of Mickey (as opposed to the latter-day 'Tom Hanks as anthropomorphised mouse' type) not some sort of 'EDGY REIMAGINING'.  That cover screams 'Venom' though, doesn't it.

Consider 'Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter'.  Warfighter?  Seriously?

'Half Life 2: Episode One', is, of course, the third Half-Life game.

Genuine tears rolling down my cheeks here. I give first prize to Willie Nelson, just about.

Not forgetting World Soccer Winning Eleven 5: Final Evolution.

This one also has the bonus of having an insanely awful front cover to it as well:

The actual game looking nothing like what the cover implies -

Bioshock: Infinite

It's Bioshock 3 you fucking cunts.

Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse

Gee I wonder why noone bought your game.

Halo: Reach

Just fuck off.

Any Final Fantasy from 2-14

Not very fucking final is it.

American McGee's Anything

Who the fuck's American McGee and why should I care.

Heretic 2

Fuck off out of it.  HeXen was Heretic 2.  It was called "HeXen: Beyond Heretic".

Just Cause

Just cause what?

F-Zero GX

That doesn't even make any sense.

Clive Barker's Jericho

Nobody cares, Hellraiser's shit now.

I could go on and probably will later.

Well really it should be Bioshock 2, and Bioshock 2 should have been called... I dunno, Bioshock: Big Tart or something.

Their loss. But then people only ever called it just 'Stubbs The Zombie' anyway.

madhair60

I do own Stubbs the Zombie.  Never really tried it though.  I have no opinion of the thing, it's just a terrible name.

Mister Six

Not a terrible name, just unfortunate sticker placement:

And another 'teeheehee' name:

Jumping on the late-80s crazes of ninjas and scooters...

Mister Six

A simulator, no less! Realistic, I'm sure.

So many "Simulator" games came out on the Speccy/C64/Amstard. Codemasters were the main culprits.

There used to be a Speccy game called "Violent Universe."

That is several different kinds of awesome. I especially love all the useless spikes on the scooter.

I can't tell if you're being contrary, but I can't see that title posing any real difficulty for an English speaker.

'Alien Breed 3D 2: The Killing Grounds' is pretty awful simply in terms of how many words and symbols are crammed in there with no subsequent increase in meaning.
