Terrible album covers

I don't see anything really wrong with that Midge Ure cover? It's what I'd imagine a Midge Ure best of album to look like. Also that Mel Smith cover is meant to be ridiculous.

That Pete Townsend one, though, hoo! And the bloody title...

You don't see anything wrong with it?

HashtagCancelled.

I'm not sure if you're referring to me with that remark, but if so: I am reacting negatively to the title as I think it is racist, and also stupid in a way only baby boomer rock stars can be.

QuotePete Townshend explained the album title as referring to the "average American hero – somebody like a Clint Eastwood or a John Wayne. Somebody with eyes like slits..."

Pauline Walnuts

As in Pete Townsend was cancelled for his causal err.. of it's time racial stereotyping. Also the kiddy porn. And the fact the picture I posted made P.T. Look as if he was behind bars.

-Or-

It's about you. Somehow.

Take your pick.

The only saving grace is that you can barely make the title out in that font. Although the last two words, which are legible, are the worst two.

Sorry. I honestly wasn't trying to be a drama queen and make it all about me, I was just genuinely worried that I'd unintentionally written something that looked racist, and I couldn't work out why. I find it hard to recognise things that are meant in jest sometimes, and my mounting anxiety made me write my last post out rather more forcefully than I should have done.

The other words are "Ching Chong Chinaman, ah so!"

Let's stop with the fussin' and a feudin', and never speak of this again. Bloody Drama Queen.

Surrealism doesn't work so well when you can't be bothered with the "real" bits. e.g. scale, shadows, competent compositing etc

Like Iron Maiden's Dance of Death looks like a preliminary mockup

New Pink Floyd?

It's a compilation box set. Remixed versions of the post-Waters albums along with some live and unreleased stuff. Too pricey for my blood at £300-ish for the full set.

Saw on spotify so wasnt surprised

That is fucking wank. Thorgerson is dead now so there's no excuse to keep dragging out that legacy of piss. Admit you made a mistake and move on.

idunnosomename

Thorgerson may have had wanky concepts but the execution was never as bad as this. There's like 5 layers there tops. Any graphic art professional could whack something like that out in under an hour. It's terrible.

alan nagsworth

makes u thimk tho dosent it

Time for a new thread I think. I don't think I'll be subscribing to the next one.

alan nagsworth

How much have you been paying to look at this shite??

By "subscribed" I meant contributing to a thread, therefore having it constantly brought up if I click "Show new replies to your posts". I have learned not to join in on certain threads.

QDRPHNC

I think that Midge Ure cover is really good, actually.

the new Pink Floyd

I agree with the other post saying anyone could put that together in under an hour, but... what IS it? Are those extension cords coming out of the ground? What does that represent? And why is the road all busted up?

superdeluxeedition.com is a great website and Paul who runs it seems like a lovely bloke who puts so much effort into spreading music news, but when he described that cover as 'stunning' on the unboxing video it was hard not to lose at least one degree of respect for him. It's fucking abysmal on every level. The box set is fucking abysmal, too. Anyone who's really interested in this stuff will only ever use the six BluRays, making the rest of it a waste of time. Two books and no interesting liner notes about the making of the music either. Such a fucking ripoff.

Quote from: Saint AugustineWhat is it that makes Pink Floyd album covers so terrible? If no one asks me, I know what it is. If I wish to explain it to him who asks, I do not know.

I'd be quite interested in hearing the de-80s remix of Momentary Lapse of Reason.

Well, was quite interested in hearing. I have about 4 tracks by now, It's a Stodge-injection.

I was huge Pink Floyd Fan back in the day, I really loved the Syd and early true progressive experimental pre-Dark Side of the Moon stuff.

Until I heard the Early years box set, still don't think I've heard more than 3/4 of it.
