Something of a favourite of Tim Burton, Gough had a long career in films - as he did on the stage and on television (one role I'll always particularly remember is Dennis Potter's Blackeyes). He was one of the better elements in the creepy house murder comedy, What a Carve Up! (starring Sid James and Kenneth Connor), where he played a sinister butler.

Aww, sad news. 94 is a pretty decent age though isn't it? RIP Alfred.

Cerys

Ah, bollocks.  He had a fantastic face, too.

I'm a fan. Read about his passing away on DH yesterday, but I had no idea he was once married to Doc Who girl Anneke Wills.
He played sinister very subtlety, and I remember being thrilled when I saw him in Burton's Batman. I may actually force myself to watch the 3RD and 4TH movies.

Agreed, he was superb. Turned up in some right old toot (BLACK ZOO, KONGA) but also loads of quality. And yeah, Best Alfred Pennyworth Ever.
