This guy's gotten famous recently, and I am jumping on the bandwagon like a dirty hipster.

He's great though, I'm utterly addicted.

I checked out his latest first, Smoke Rings for my Halo and it's got this great vibe, like a hazy summer's day from your past (if you were American and around in the sixties). The wistful, nostalgic, dreamy side of Classic Rock [namecheck Neil Young, Tom Petty, Dylan]. Very impressive musical arrangements. Charming drawl.

Getting into earlier stuff now, more dreamy bedroom pop [namecheck Ariel Pink, Animal Collective] with cheap drum machines. Dude's just got something about him, he's like out of a time warp, making you remember things which never happened to you.

He's been on Tom Scharpling's Best Show a couple of times playing live and chattin' over the last few months.

The December 21st show contains a large amount of him.

I quite like him.

I came across Constant Hitmaker on experimentaletc, and fell in love with Slow Talkers:

I can't really say much constructive, the guitar with the tape hiss in the background and the echoey vocals often make a walk to the bus station nicer though.

AnCo have picked him for their curation of ATP, which I won't be going to. Sounds pretty good, though.

I'll check out some albums now.

I along with a lot of people just heard his music at the end of Eastbound and Down.
Fantastic stuff, about to download his releases, any good place to start?

I dunno, I started with his latest, Smoke Rings for my Halo, which is his most polished and... full sounding?

After falling in love with that, his older work sounds quite slight to me. Nice, but a bit unfocused and aimless.

I guess it depends what you're looking for. Probably the best thing is to go chronological as it's fun to see the way he's embraced classic rock in his own inimitable style.

I'd have to agree with you. The recent one is so well realised that the early stuff sounds a bit underdone. I might go back later and find there are loads of little gems I didn't get at first but Smoke Ring is serving me real nice right now.
