Is anyone at all seeding these anymore? I've had the torrents in my downloader for weeks now and not a sniff. Please please please, someone seed them?

Thanks!

Quote from: "Timmay"I'm disappointed guys, I really am. All this lovely lovely bandwidth there to be used, and no one uses it. Perhaps everyone who wanted the shows have got them now, dunno. Site is still there, bandwidth still available, go use it.

This'll be the last time I bump the thread for this.

Apologies for double post... I get a 404 on all the links at your site... is it all still up? Any way I can get hold of these things without breaking my legs? I'm prepared to offer trades...?

as a fat and power-mad american i would like to demand that the torrents or mirrors be reinstated immediately.

or i could beg nicely

Here we are eggbert, I've re-uploaded/seeded it on UKN (it had reached its TTL you see...):

My hosts have decided to shut down, which means the CaB Mirror is currently offline. I'm hunting out other deals, but it looks like the cost to me to keep it running is going to increase further. It also means I'm going to have to go with a reputable host rather than some guy with a spare server and spare bandwidth who doesn't care if you store MP3s on it. I'll just have to hope the new ones don't notice!

I'll post back here when something is up and running again.

Neil

It's very kind Timmay, but don't be spending your money on hosting the files.  I'm just going to have to set up torrent ing and stuff, I think.

wow. you know about the eggberts??!

gazzyk1ns

Er, I dunno, I think it might just be an annoying habit I've picked up from one of my friends which you have linked to something unrelated!

Anyway, I came here to say that the Blue Jam torrent on UKN (link just up there^^) is going to die within a few days and I don't plan to bump it again - so if you were planning on grabbing them, now is the time to jump on the torrent. I can't remember exactly how long UKN's TTL is, they don't show it any more. But it's about a month and I re-bumped the torrent on the 26th of August. Just giving anyone relevant some notice.

gazzyk1ns

The torrent is back up on UKN again, despite what I said. I posted it elsewhere but I thought I'd better say it in here for the benefit of people who just stopped by to say that TJ IS Nathan Barley.

rgill90

All these links are broken - anyone know if they're gonna be sorted? Desperate for these episodes of Blue Jam!!!

Cheers

Neil

Read the thread please, specifically the last few posts :-)

Edit: Ah, there's the boss ;)

You have to be a member of UK Nova though. If you're not, and they're not taking new members at the moment, then just keep checking back.

Could anyone reseed Blue Jam on UKN? I'd be most grateful!

I really appreciate Timmay's work in putting the episodes up on his website, but whenever I have visited it, it has been out of bandwidth. Bittorrent seems a fairer way to distribute them, as everything I download will be uploaded again to someone else.

Neil

Sorry, but UKNova is out of the question now because of their rule changes.  They stipped me of my uploading rights and put me on a warning just for seeding the R1 shows again.  I'll stick em on an open system when I clear some diskspace though, watch out for an update.

Biscuits

Thanks Neil, will do.

I must admit, I can't understand what UKN's problem was, though. It's not like you can buy Blue Jam (except the CD, which surely doesn't count, being a compilation). Sounds very unfair.

Daaaaaaan

UKnova have got some mental rules and guidelines. I say mental, I mean easily bent to suit the powers that be. If you ask why they allow teleivsion adverts to be uploaded but not music videos, they just tell you to go somewhere else for music videos. Worse still, American programmes are clearly not allowed but if Gervais (yes, he made it into another thread!) is on some American show, an exception is made.

TJ

There is a case for arguing that neither the Music Shows nor Blue Jam contain 'commercially available' material, in that whatever does appear is either looped and manipulated in the latter, or drenched in samples and guitar playing in the former.

slim

They're hypocritical, swooning wankers as far as I can make out.

There's also the argument that no-one in their right mind would download the Music Shows or Blue Jam solely for the music content - they'd surely be downloading them for the Morris content and then try and discover what the music was as an afterthought if they liked it, wouldn't they?

"Oh I know, there's a track by Plone from 1993 I've been after, I'll download gigabytes of Chris Morris shows as it may have been played on there at some point".

It's like when the Doctor Who series 'The Chase' was seeded on there - presumably that wouldn't be allowed now because of the tiny shot of a Beatles gig?

In summary: it's a fucking stupid rule.

Try now. Call it a Christmas present for you guys.

Yeah, indeed. As was pointed out elsewhere, there was a Robbie Williams set uploaded to UKN recently "with advance mod approval". That's just insane, considering Neil was slapped on the wrist for re-seeding the Morris R1 music shows.

The thing about exceptions being made for certain US programmes is interesting, too. The UKN mods and their arselickers have always justified the illegality of it by saying things like "Well we intend it to be used instead of a VCR, 99% of UK people on here live in a household which pays a TV license and most of the rest are good old ex-pats living in the US.". But then they make an exception when a mod, or a friend of a mod, wants Sky-only stuff like Soccer AM uploaded. Or indeed, a popular new Robbie Williams set which you'd assume would be one of the most dangerous things to host/torrent, copyright-wise. After it was pointed out, I took a look at the list of peers - from memory, I think there were 6 or 7 people with completed downloads, and all but one were female and/or had Nova Friends/VR status. To be fair it might have been a coincidence, but it did seem to comply with the usual website clique (no CaB in-joke implied, for once...) stuff.

I appreciate the need for them to publicly "justify" their legal position and generally employ measures to remain off the radar of those who might bring an end to UKN, in order for us all to carry on enjoying their many brilliant torrents, but there's definitely a clique and a lot of hypocrisy there. They should just set up an uber-private tracker for the mods and the girlies who the mods are trying to impress, which would host Robbie Williams TOTP specials and the like, so that stuff like the Morris R1 shows doesn't get hit by friendly fire.

Neil

The thing that really pissed me off is that when I originally seeded the shows (about 3 or months before the warning), one of the high-up moderators/admins actually PM'd me to say thanks for uploading all the Morris stuff!

gazzyk1ns

Yeah well I was going to add a sentence to that^ post, for people who don't know,  about how you initially gain upload rights on UKN - you PM a mod and tell them what you've got in store for the site. For someone to quietly PM you and say "We'd rather not risk this any more, sorry." is one thing (ignoring the hypocrisy) but then to give you a little ban, like someone who's uploaded a Spaced DVD rip, because you'd re-seeded something which had previously been OK'd by a mod, is just stupid.

Ambient Sheep

I'm still surprised that you, Neil, never went back to the original mod that thanked you, to complain about the second mod's ban.

Duffy

Yeah, that sounds mighty harsh, Neil. One of my Hicks uploads got taken off some time back and all I got was a PM from one of the mods reminding me of the rules. I received no warning and retained my upload rights. I know they're very careful about music these days, but that seems well OTT to me.

Sorry to go off topic gents/gentesses, but i cant post a new topic cos im a guest :)

Er... Don't want to be annoying or pushy or anything, but can anyone reseed series 3? I've managed to get the first two series (which I'm still seeding), but even after trying for aaaages I've only got just over 70% of series 3. If anyone's got it and can seed it for a bit, that would be lovely. Cheers.
