The trailer has been leaked:

Apologies for the crap quality.

I've got that anthology blu-ray boxset, I actually feel like putting Alien or Aliens on...

There was a much longer, decent quality trailer leaked a few months ago. Unsurprisingly it vanished from youtube but it's probably hidden away somewhere online

Pseudopath

COULD BE IT'S END? Blimey...I hope they fix that before the trailer hits cinemas.

alan nagsworth

wheee looks great. loving the shapes of the word slowly forming as they did in Alien too. that cunt needs to move his god damn cursor off the screen though

As far as I remember that was proved bogus. Apart from the footage that was shown at Comic con this year this is the first footage of Prometheus that has been seen by anyone.

Yeah, sorry, it was footage from Comic Con. Worked kind of as a trailer though.

It didn't look like it showed much, from what I saw of it anyway. The film was actually still very much in production at the time so there was no post production effects like we're seeing now. It'll be interesting to see what the new trailer looks like in full HD. The whole thing looks promising though. I was worried it was going to be more like a high concept Sci-Fi thriller that only barely had original Alien DNA in it. The trailer looks much more faithful than I imagined it was going to but having said that how many promising looking trailers have promoted dodgy as hell films? And I'm still not sure whether Scott can direct another truly groundbreaking movie, horror or otherwise. There's a lot for this film to live up to, perhaps too much. I hope he pulls it off.

I seem to remember it showed quite a bit, it was a while ago though. This page has a bunch of screen shots, anyway

Some interesting (and possibly spoilery) official promo shots have been released, and are up here: http://www.alienprequelnews.com/2011/11/high-res-images-from-prometheus-show.html

Apart from The Wire, has Idris Elba ever been in anything decent?

This worries me.

Thor was pretty good. He's certainly done some shit, but that doesn't mean everything he's in is doomed to shitness.

My only complaint so far is that the spacesuits look a bit crummy.

That clip was amazing. I forgot how shit Space Precinct was.

Has anyone read the latest supposedly leaked plot synopsis? I really hope it isn't the real thing because it sounds bloody awful. The one thing that slightly depresses me about it is that it does tie in with another separate supposed leak from a CGI artist working on it who said  from what he'd worked on it seemed like a cross between The Thing and Alien.

Perhaps spoiler alert is needed here,   http://www.prometheus-movie.com/news/83

(Bit of a sidetrack, sorry but thought some people might like it)

IRL Alien/Giger style building from 1896...

I've read on AICN (in a Talkback, not the official news) that this was a fanfic that someone wrote a few months ago using what little was known of the plot and making the rest up.

Rev

Yeah, it was something that was posted on the IMDB message boards a few months back, but it's suddenly become a 'leak'.  The author saying that it's just an idea he cobbled together from what has been revealed so far seems to have fallen off in the reporting

Really interesting interview with Ridley Scott re Prometheus. Looks like they really are distancing it from the original Alien. He also admits they're ditching the original alien entirely from the film. Something I'm quite glad about actually.  http://filmophilia.com/2011/12/17/interview-ridley-scott-talks-prometheus-giger-beginning-of-man-and-original-alien/

mobias

There's two preview trailers out there now. Looks pretty epic  http://www.prometheus-movie.com/

There's clearly a lot being made of the fact that this is Scott's first return to sci-fi since Bladerunner. I hope its not yet another well directed though utterly mediocre movie like so much of his recent output.

Pete23

I much preffered the Prometheus trailers's trailer to the Batman one - can't wait for the real thing on Thurday!

That was definitely the Space Jockey there at one point.

mobias

If you're quick you can pause it at one point and they appear to be scanning the space jockey's head on a table. I've got slight reservations about the whole thing since hearing that Michael Fassbender says the movie is much more like a sc-fi thriller than it is a horror. They're clearly not revealing much but I do hope there's a lot more Giger influence even though they've done away with the Alien entirely.

El Unicornio, mang

It's clearly the space jockey at 0:39 :-D

mobias

If you're quick and pause it at 0.42 you can see someone, perhaps the space jockey standing in the middle of blue floating orbs with rings round them in what appears to be the space jockey's room from Alien. Then at 0.44 you can see the space jockey's chair rising from the floor of the same room and if you look to the right of it its definitely the space jockey walking towards it.

Must be different times on the youtube vid I watched. But yeah, definitely Space Jockey. Mega excite.

mobias

I really, really hope the space jockey doesn't turn out to be a naff looking humanoid like out of Star Trek. One of the many reasons Alien worked so well was that it left so much up to the imagination, there was so much creepy mystery in imagining what he actually was. I've got a horrible feeling the answer they're going to give us is going to be a disappointing one

El Unicornio, mang

Well I do agree, I loved the mystery of the Space Jockey so it is probably going to spoil that somewhat. Still, ever since seeing Alien I've wanted to see a film that tells the space jockey story, so I can't really complain..
