"This is a song Charles Manson stole from The Beatles. We're stealing it back."

Lee Van Cleef

Van Canto's cover of 'Battery', originally by Metallica, wins the thread.

Oh Miles, you were a fucking genius but why or why did you think it was a good a idea to do a smoove jazz version of Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time"?

Urgh.

finnquark

Ashley Tisdale trumps Miles in the contest for worst Cyndi Lauper cover.

I don't know if this counts as a cover, but.......

Oh Lord. Even Sir Thumbsaloft faux casual stroll onstage cannot save this. If this is the version I've seen. I can't watch it in work. Or at home.

Jesus fucking Christ. The Darkness covering 'Street Spirit (Fade Out)'

Ha, I knew this'd be why the thread got bumped. It's awful. The Darkness are incapable of doing anything serious, and Street Spirit just doesn't work as a non-serious bit of fun.

Louise - Lets go round again http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFWI8Uy24tI She deserves a Thomas Cook one way ticket after this travesty. Every ounce of emotion and the beauty of the original is sucked out, and a vacuous pile of shit is left

Devlin Ft. Ed Sheeran - Watchtower. This is a travesty.

Anything (other than a lead lined coffin full of dog shit & anthrax) featuring Ed Sheeran is a travesty.

Is that from a film or has Neil Maskell taken another wrong turn in his career?

It's the music video, don't think it's from a film. I was (foolishly) perusing the music channels the other day and stumbled across this mess of a song. I was too shocked to change the channel and thus had to sit through the whole shit-fest.

Not a cover version but I can't find the extraordinary live versions thread

I am appalled at that clip but I cannot stop watching it.

Fucking hell, it really does.  Even the guy doing the guitar riff sounding just like Hetfield would if he lost his guitar and had to wing it doesn't save this.  Why are these people?

Folks here may be interested to know, the The Top 100 Worst Songs Ever nomination thread (to be then played on CaB Radio) is now open - http://www.cookdandbombd.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=32915.msg1725840#msg1725840

Not exclusive to cover versions obviously...

Here are five songs covered by the infamous Japanese noise outfit The Gerogerigegege.  It's an extract of their live album 'Tokyo Anal Dynamite'.  Not much point listening to the rest, it's all the same.

Other albums include other 'noisecore' ("1..2..3..4... PQERJEQOJFOIEJEOIF & repeat), recordings of live collaborations with a homeless guy who likes to masturbate on stage (lots of Japanese style grunting), inept piano noodling and random recordings of whatever, recordings of random porno films pressed on vinyl, stupid antics and pranks and nonsense.  He had a reputation for disreputable behaviour, ripping people off and scams - within the wacky world of noise music at that.  Disappeared about ten years ago, rumour had it he spent time in a mental institution and/or spent time homeless and sleeping rough.

Oh man. Just nearly choked laughing when the 'guitars' come in. ME NILLY RILLY RILLY! It's even better than the Flying Pickets' cover of Smells Like Teen Spirit.

Surely the "guitar solo" is the worst bit
