Been driving my neighbours insane recording this the last few years, but (I) had a good time in the process:

I've got so obsessed by Sparks I felt compelled to do an a cappella Sparks cover. Ultra lo-fi. Garageband effect assisted "beatboxing". Voice craps out at the end when it gets all dramatic. Have it anyway.

I'm hoping this isn't too much of a Mike Read-esque minstrel show, but I made a sorta Calypso tune about my dear old ma ma: https://soundcloud.com/simonmaxwellstewart/hey-mama

If there is one thing on CaB I'd like to do before I pop it it's post something to listen to here in this thread

I had a day off work today and challenged myself to write and record something inside an hour. I managed to come up with a short instrumental synthwave thing. It's a retro 80s cheese-fest, but I had fun putting it together. Listening back, it's not finished by a long shot and it's very repetitive. I can already hear changes I want to make to it, and places I could take it to make it a more satisfying listen. But I just fancied chucking something down and getting it up on Soundcloud before I tweaked the fucker to death. Anyway, here it is;

Don't think I've posted this here. I did at another forum, and by way of enticing people into listening, I posed it as a challenge to identify the big-name acts sampled for the track. Two are pretty easy to spot, one is pretty hard. At the time, I could only link to an audio version (that's been viewed a whopping 13.600 times btw), but since then, someone uploaded the music video one of our brothers made for the track at the time (school project), and that's more fun to watch:

White boys rapping and playing gangsters in a music video made by teenagers. What more do you need to know, really? And can you name those samples?

Is the first drum break from Mastodon?

Utter Shit

Pretty sure the bassline from Breathe by Prodigy is running through the whole thing, giving it that pulsating vibe?

No, but an interesting guess.

I posted this track a week or so ago, but it wasn't really finished. I just wanted to record something quickly and get it out there before I lost interest in it. Well, it's now finished (he says. No music project is ever truly complete in my experience). I've added some new dynamic bits to make it more exciting, trimmed some of the fat, tweaked a few of the synth sounds and generally tidied up the arrangement. I'm really pleased with it so please give up three and a half minutes of your time. Sure, it's as camp and cheesy as all hell, but it's also a lot of fun. If anyone is planning on making an 80s throwback TV show in the mould of Airwolf or Knight Rider, please consider this for the theme tune. And pay me handsomely. Thanks.

Catchy little two-chorder about a troupe of travelling actors (always fancied that life, though I'm sure I'd burn out pretty quickly): https://soundcloud.com/simonmaxwellstewart/the-travelling-players

Yes I was about a month back! He made fun of my accent as I expected he probably would. Could've gone worse though, all told!

Wanted to write this track about Alzheimer's a bit like a horror story.  It must be a terrifying feeling for some sufferers seeing family, who are to them strangers, looking at them with unearned love and affection and expectations.  Like...being amidst a gaggle of cannibals.  Also, a lot of dementia sufferers get great comfort from extremely simple things, like birdsongs and gardens.  In the moment pleasures.  Hope you like it.

My latest album is a free download. It's a dark sound collage piece inspired by Nurse With Wound, and walks through unkempt woodlands.

I have a new EP up on the Spotifys. Lots of people have the same name as me so I get lumped in with some right old shite, but the shite that is linked in this link is my shite.
