It's funny a number of people should choose to whine about the recent 'hostility' of Verbwhores.  Not too long ago I had a bit of a wander around the Internet to see just what else was out there, and I tell you, it was like being back at school.  First there were the capital letters shouty disagreements going on at NME's Angst:

"U LIKE THE WHITE STRIPES U R SAD THEIR DRUMMER CAN'T PLAY, THEY R SHIT".

I then had a bit of a wander around the other Soulseek 'rooms'.  I nipped into one of the indie rooms to be greeted by a bunch of sneering adolescents who 'hated people', 'didn't socialise' and thought that being aware of the Pastels entire output was reason enough to be considered a sound person.  When they weren't being hateful, they were being deeply boring and talking about daytime television.

I then nipped into the Eurovision song Contest room to find an angry teenager (who I told to piss off and go and tidy his room) ranting about how we were all 'poofs' and 'queers', should listen to Joy Division, and proper music played by people with guitars.  He also said how much he hated people (a common thread on the net, it seems).  They all rounded on him and I joined in, however I let the side down by not understanding that the vast majority of people in the room couldn't speak English very well and didn't understand my use of irony.  I finally got a major kick up the arse for declaring that the split of Atomic Kitten wasn't necessarily a tragic thing.  I will probably never be able to darken their doors again as a result of that terrible faux pas.

I've come to the conclusion that the Internet is full of nasty little spotty oiks with no social skills, and nothing much of interest to say.  And that doesn't really apply (universally) to the people on this site. Hostile?  Bickering?  Try going on holiday for a bit and see what you find.  I'd say most people on here would support a reasoned argument and agree with your right to disagree, provided it's done reasonably intelligently.  That's really not true at most other sites.

Ummm... no offence Deviln, but that isn't strictly the case... any chance you could have a read of my most recent post on the 'Iannucci Update' thread, which makes it clear what I object to (and it's a specific type of behaviour)? Cheers!

Checked out and understood now, it was the first comment I had read that made me think that. Sorry!
