Please.
As big as possible, as good quality as possible for as cheap as possible.
Definitely less than 100 quid.
My pc isn't all that new, if that matters. And it's not for gaming, just for porn.
Cheers.

Are there any characteristics you don't care about?

What connection are you using? You cunt.

Get one of those 3D porn monitors by Samsung. I have the XA157 model. They cost a bit more but by george they are very realistic. When you're looking at it you could almost believe you were actually in that manky Los Angeles flat, knees scraping against the tiled floor, mascara running down your face, large hands pushing down on the back of your head....

I love it

small_world

Haha. That's the one I'm after.

But yeah, the one I currently have, was bought as an emergency from a car boot sale. It's teeny. So anything is going to be an improvement, but the bigger the better really.
It's connected with a normal connection thing... Is it a VGA cable?

If your computer has a DVI (white) connection, definitely get a monitor that has (I think only the very cheapest would not have) that. Much better picture quality.

Supplied one of these the other week. Stonking value.

small_world

Wilbur, that might be the one.
But I'm not sure if my pc has one of those fancy cables.
In the specs it is says

"User ModeDisplay Surface Anti-Glare Input 1 VGA Analog、PC Audio Input 2 DVI-D (HDCP) Speakers 1W x 2 Supply...... "
Does that mean my normal blue pin connection thing will work?

Input 2 DVI-D (HDCP)

This is the digital connection. Hopefully the monitor comes with the cable.

small_world

Ah, no.
I mean I don't think my pc has a VDI(?) output.

But that monitor has a VGA input, doesn't it? So it would still work, although I wouldn't have the digital benefits.

Or am I wrong?

Nope thats correct. And when you get a DVI graphics card you an use it with that instead. Win/win.

ThickAndCreamy

I recently bought a cheap monitor for £60 that didn't have a digital input and I can promise you will regret it. Despite buying a new computer that is rather powerful it still looks like shit on the screen.

small_world

Well what I'm using now is so small anything will be an improvement.
And with that one, at least if/when I do upgrade, it'll be future proof/ready...

Won't it?

Yeah, I'm gonna get it.

As long as you don't have anything to compare it with, you should be OK. I have two screens at work. 1 VGA, 1 DVI. The VGA looks really bad in comparison. And my father-in-law went for a cheap VGA 24 incher, which I think is quite poor. But I have quite a nice 24 incher through DVI.

I have a couple of Illyama 22inch 'square screens', both on the same PC. Due to the limitations of the ancient graphics card one screen is DVI-D and the other is Analog(ue).
I can't remember which is which, and they both look perfectly sharp and clear to me.
This is at 1280x1024, I remember from my video test technician days that 1600x1200 and a fine moire pattern would show which was which, but unless you are displaying a fine moire pattern then who cares?

If you have an okay Graphics card and want to watch HD porn and the likes, this is a good price;
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-063-AC

They have an excellent customer service policy and 24" for that price is pretty good. 1920x1080.

Slightly over the price range, but worth it.

I highly recommend AOC monitors. There's a few 21.5" ones, 1080p, on amazon for about 85 quid.

REET....
Got me one of these beasts. And it's huage.
But I've messed on with the resolution. It says it'll take 1920x1080. But things look teeeeny weeeny on that.
It looks bigger and less unusual on 1360x768.
But which should I set it too. I feel like I'm not unlocking its full potential having it at 1360x768, but things look too odd on 1920x1080.

I've never felt comfortable with the highest resolution.

How do you all eat yours?

I accept the terms of the

Set it to its native (highest) resolution otherwise it's stretched and blurry and wrong. Change the size of text if it's too small.

You'll get used to it, honest. Though actually, I use  the nosquint Firefox extension to boost up text size by 20% or so.

small_world

Cool.
Yeah, I have quite gotten used to it already.
The porn looks fucking among.

Text could be a bit bigger though.
Cheers.

Just set it to whichever looks the best to you. I don't do 1920 either, everything looks stupidly small. You're not really missing out on anything, promise.

You can make the text bigger in accessibility options. Obviously you'll need to show your blue pass first. Glad you are pleased with it.

Winjer

How about buying a large (40"+) monitor to take the place of a TV?

Something with no tuner. Are the prices feasible for this yet?

Ah no, I tried that and now, the top bar (The bit with the red 'x') on all windows is tiny!!! And I can't figure out how to change it back.
