Yay, thanks for that! Gives you the code there and then. Wanted him, too.

Living career mode. Just about to change weight divisions to prove myself.

RARRRRR!

Damn Monday Payday.

Actually, when you get to be champ in career mode let me know if it just gives you same guys over and over, that's what annoyed me about the last one. Although originally beating them by TKO, then KO, then submission made it more satisfying, but still.

Neil

Take it you grabbed free Reem too?

I'm a title holder still in the WFA, and it's the same guys, which is why I'm trying to move weight divisions. I turned it down the first time it was offered - I guess I've got to continue streaking till I get it again.

Bantamweight is meant to be FUN - big wars, compared to heavyweight classes.

I got it and saved the code for Monday when I actually get it. I have no idea how these codes work but I assume it'll still work then.

I'm looking forward to this. UFC Undisputed 2010 let you go up a weight class after becoming UFC champ and defending the belt a few times[nb]which actually makes sense, otherwise your fighter would have to have a whole new body type[/nb], I never really tried the lighter weight classes but with the additions of featherweight and bantamweight[nb]and flyweight IRL soon[/nb] it'll feel less like....actually, I don't know where I was going with this. It sounds like smaller guys are rubbish, but I like them, I will put it down to the fact my automatic weight class was Light Heavyweight in UFC 2010 and I never really wanted to, or had the need to try it again with another character. I'd hope this would change, and actually, as my knowledge of MMA has grown since the last game and also PRIDE RULES means i'm more interested in fighting[nb]notIRL[/nb] all weight divisions...actually...I took a break, I have no idea what the last part meant.

ANYWAY

Round 1 of Edgar vs Maynard II is a good round of a great fight.

basically, I like Frankie Edgar.

I recently purchased Real Steel on XBLA. I'm not very far and it has facebook game elements[nb]BAI MOAR coins[/nb] but it's by Yukes and is just roboboxing which I like.

This is my last post (Nb11111 Until Monday)

I like Hughes vs Trigg at UFC 52.

EDIT: I first heard about The Reem in K-1 2009, then in 2010 http://youtu.be/Qroo8gfA4KI

I also love Mike Schiavello because he gives a daytimesoapoperasetinjapan feel about things

Not had much chance to play this so far due to work, life etc.. Managed a few heavyweight exhibition matches on Pride last night though. I like how quickly these fights can be over for you if you choose the wrong tactics. Like if you are playing with a Kick-Boxing or Judo specialist and you try toe-to-toe brawling against a heavy puncher with high knockout power, you won't last long. Even getting KO'd within a minute of the first round can be thrilling stuff though.

Viero_Berlotti

Finally got through the complete tutorial last night. I really like how complex this is. Learning to play this with any level of competency is almost like learning to play a musical instrument or something. So many things to think about, so many variables at work at the same time.

Most fights I've had on this so far have been straight up button bashing brawls, and you can play it like that if you want and still have loads of fun. I'm looking forward to increasing the difficulty level and getting into the more technical and tactical side of it though.

Neil

Yeah, the ground game seems incomprehensible at first, but starts to make sense, especially as you work through career mode, and add in your own transitions. Same with the clinch. Reversing and blocking transitions are the biggest challenge, but that comes down to timing and practice.

Nearly finished my first run through career mode, think I only have another fight or two left. Still not tried online yet, want to get more comfortable with grappling.

I got a great rubber guard transition which means I can flip from the bottom to side control.  I love brawling, but the technical side of it becomes equally satisfying.

I'll definitely do career mode again, if only because I have a much better idea of how to build a fighter now. Having to commit to one training camp is heart-breaking, so next time I'll decide from the start, and then take moves from every camp BUT that one, while I still can.

Viero_Berlotti

Started career mode last night as well. Tried to re-create classic British wrestler Mick McManus but he ended up looking more like B-Movie actor Michael Ironside. So I renamed him Michael Ironside and I am doing my first career run thorough as him, pretending I'm in some mid-nineties straight to video cage-fighting B-Movie.

Neil

Still defending my title. Just has an awesome war with Shogun Rua - he tried to submit me constantly, but I kept just about escaping. Then with a minute left in tre fourth round, I rocked him with a spinning backfist (not a spinning backside, as my phone is intent in saying) and then immediately knocked him out with an axe kick. One for the highlight reel.

Wow, 7 submission attempts he made.

What level you guys playing at? I worked up to advanced with the demo. Next run through will be going up to expert - might leave Ultimate for a wee while.

Not had the chance to put anymore than about 3 or 4 hours into this so still on experienced at the moment, will probably do a career run through on this level until I get the hang of transitions, grappling etc...

Not been anywhere near online either, which is probably for the best as they have been having problems with the server. I just hope it doesn't end up full of people that have worked out annoying, glitchy ways of winning.

Viero_Berlotti

Had an 'epic mustache' battle last night with Dan Severn vs. Don Frye. It looked butch as anything with these two rolling around on the floor grappling it out, then my girlfriend walked in looked at the TV screen and promptly walked out again.......

I still have no copy as my delivery was deliveried somewhere else.

All I have is a name...Cooper...I will find him...then hang[nb]with[/nb] him.

Or i'll just go into town after work and buy a copy.

Edit: Went to Game, sold out, went to the other Game, sold out, went to HMV, sold out, went to Grainger Games, £3 cheaper than Game and in stock.

I'm tempted by the 99999 MS Point KO Artist pack but I might wait until next payday.

Shit, I'd worked my light heavyweight up to 90 strength, then swapped to heavyweight to take that title. Forgot it would cap strength at 85. No backup, either.

Edit: must have read it wrong. Reloaded and I see it's just footwork that's capped, but only by a few points anyway. Final year of fighting for this CAF, then I want to try a wrestler to work more on my ground game.

Glad you got sorted, penfold.

Neil

After so long spent building this CAF, I've jumped into exhibition to play around with some roster fighters. A lovely reminder of how different they play! Big Nog is proving to be a lot of fun. I think it's time I jump online for some player matches, too.

Must play with sim mode more. I was using it a lot with the demo, and love how much it changed the pace, but it feels really alien to me now.

Still loving this game.

Obel

Had a few bouts on the demo last night, really impressed! Definitely makes a fool out of WWE 12.. Thinking this might have to be bought at some point, though I just snapped up Forza 4 for £18 (!!) which might take up some of my time.

Cheers,

I set up my fighter last night but only had time for one fight as I keep watching the events. Went for a Bantamweight Jiu-Jitsu guy as I tend to go for light heavyweight in the last two games.

Haven't checked my default moves yet, my favourite move to learn in the last game was the mounted crucifix things where it's easy to elbow.

Neil

I started doing title mode as a bantamweight last night, and it's fun as fuck. Fighters can be rocked more frequently than light heavy, and take a lot more damage. It becomes more of a drawn-out war.

Neil

The official forums are worth a look in every now and again.  They're a source of much hilarity and angst.  I was hoping to find strategy tips about the game, but it's been a constant fucking moan-fest since its release last Tuesday.  You can understand some of it - a week later, and ranked mode is still evidently prone to disconnects and the like, and this is compounded by problems with previous games in the series, as well as other THQ games.

But people are going off their nut, round the clock.  It's got to the inevitable point where some wanker suggests a class action law suit!  This thread got locked, so now two more class action threads have just sprung up.  I assumed this was because the game wasn't working as advertised, and they wanted to play ranked, and in the absence of such facilities they wanted their money back.  Nah - the issue is actually that they can't use the $3 DLC they paid for to boost their created fighter.

Yeah, I remember when Fallout New Vegas first came out and it was full of bugs and glitches and there was a  thread on the Bethesda forums calling for a class action law suit. So I think it's more common than you might think in the USA. I think it's all talk though and nothing ever comes of it.

I went on the UFC Undisputed 3 forums earlier this week and there was one thread started where a guy was threatening to go down to the THQ headquarters with a gun unless they fixed the issues immediately. I don't think he was being over the top for comic effect either. I do wonder how serious something like that is taken in the USA, considering they won't think twice about barring you from entering the country if you make anti-American comments on Twitter.

I suppose a game like this might attract a fair few nutters though. For me there's plenty to be getting on with in the single player career mode to be able to leave online play until they fix it. Although I can understand the frustration of those that had bought the game just for the online play.

Turns out my guy was a featherweight, but I've had a couple of bantam and lightweight matches.

My overall rating is 74 but i'm about to challenge for the title, untill I got distracted by the Pride lightweight grand prix. Am i training badly or should my stats be better than that after 4 years of career mode? I'm fighting people with high 80/low 90 ratings and after being undefeated I feel a losing streak coming. I tend to go through the same thing in the last games but I was wondering if anyone else had had a similar experience?

Let's not forget that MMA attracts more than its fair-share of head cases too.

Just bought it today.  Still getting to grips with it, but based on what I've played so far, looks to be a lot of fun.

If anyone is reading this and still hasn't bought it, Argos are throwing in a DVD of Pride 30 (aka Fully Loaded), for £38.99. I have no idea if this is being done anywhere else, but I was also looking to get some more Pride DVDs, and this was only a quid more brand new than GAME was offering for the thing pre-owned.  Made perfect sense to me.

I'm nitpicking here, but there are a couple of Pride fighters I wish were in the game; would've been cool to have Sakuraba and Fedor in it, but you can't have everything...
