You and me both! I see her Hubby Directed this one as he did the last film, which was more of a return to form for the series.
Also note that the character
Spoiler alert
Ada Wong
[close]
appears in this one, which game is she from? Also
Spoiler alert
Dr Birkin
[close]
who appears in the new Racoon City game plays a part in this film.

Ada Wong's the femme fatale character from Resident Evils 2 and 4. William Birkin was from Resi 2.

I'm a sucker for a Resident Evil film, and this looks absolutely a Resident Evil film. Also, Michelle Rodriguez is back!

Really? I thought the last one was just "okay", and the one before that was almost entirely forgettable. Seriously, no memory of it at all. Was Michelle Rodriguez in that one?

I honestly have no idea why I've seen so many Paul WS Anderson films. I think the politest thing you could say about him as a director is that he's "competent", and sometime he doesn't even manage to be that. My mate and I walked out of his Three Musketeers after about half an hour, it was genuinely awful.

Judging by the trailer, this film is going to be one long ad for Sony products.

Thanks for that Mister Six. I did play Resi 2 'a bit' but obviously not enough to recognise her. William Birkin being in 2 makes sense as Op Racoon City takes place during the events of RE2.

Skyfall, Bond 2012 teaser:

Has gunfire and mystery. As long as the plotting is more engaging than QoS, could be good.

That looks like a really good film, I have to say though it doesn't look like a James Bond film, if that makes sense.

El Unicornio, mang

It definitely seems like the films have been more like Bourne than Bond in the last few outings. Still love them but I'm hoping to see a bit more of the traditional Bond stuff like gadgets (though not the overly silly ones).

Might as well bung this in here as it's just been released officially online but the film's not out til next year.

The trailer indicates a more sophisticated, Tinker Tailor type piece of directing, in comparison to the Bond's of old. I didn't used to really buy into the theory that the new Bond's were cynical shadows of the former series but after watching most of Sean Connery's Bond films lately, the aformentioned theory has in my mind been given a hightened sense of credence. The new films are just utterly humours and serious, yes it conveys a more realistic depiction of what it might be like as a spy but really, who watches James Bond for a gritty portrayal of a tortured agent?

El Unicornio, mang

I think they were aiming for the feel of the novels, which are very po-faced and lacking in humour. It was pretty much Connery who introduced the humour angle, which was then taken to extremes with Roger Moore.

Teaser for the Master out now! Looks really providing, but I would say that anyway.

kitsofan34

Yes indeed vrailaine, here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=9oZDKFoCqAw

Paul Thomas Anderson is in my book, the best director working at the moment, so obviously I'm a little biased when I say this looks amazing. It's great to see Joaquin back too, his character seems absoloutely unhinged. Can't wait.

Now THAT is a trailer! It makes me want to see what happened.

And now I have to watch PTA's back catalogue...

The Great Gatsby. Leonard Di Cappucino still looks about 12.

samadriel

He really, really does!  That's going to bug me, but I'll still watch it; I didn't dare touch 'Australia', but I'd like to get back on board with Baz Luhrmann.

She was only in the first one, and I'm intrigued as to how they're going to bring her back.

I don't think they're great cinema or anything, just nice and decently dependable in terms of entertainment.

El Unicornio, mang

Another quirky coming of age indie film. This does have Emma Watson doing some sexy stuff though

First trailer for Disney's Wreck-It Ralph. Lovely concept, still not sure about the execution...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GHDQHVkYq4g

It's worth fleshing these points out in a separate thread, but here are a few for now:

Spoiler alert
Has John C. Reilly had work done? He looks a little strange there.

Some nice fidelity there with the Wreck-It Ralph game. It looks like a cross between Donkey Kong and Rampage.

This is basically Toy Story...with a bit of Shrek.

Zangeif's not a bad guy! Who wrote this?

There doesn't seem to be any sense of hierarchy or even celebrity in this world. Wouldn't Bowser be a big deal, and not just another face in a self-help group? Ditto Robotnik. Also, isn't the whole notion of a self-help group for villains a little cliche by now? Austin Powers did it, in a way, as did Venture Bros.

Also, and this may be appallingly unfair and presumptuous of me, but would it not have made a more satisfying arc for him to begin the story as a pointlessly cocky 'villain' who gradually becomes nicer as the story goes on? Instead it seems he's a kind of aw-shucks downhearted chap from the off, which is a bit of a downer.

Old Nehamkin

^ It looks like the kind of film where the logic of the world completely falls apart if you place it under any sort of scrutiny but looks surprisingly imaginative and promising for a non-Pixar Disney film.

eluc55

If nothing else I'm really impressed they've managed to get the rights to those disparate characters; and not just gone with their own cheap knock-offs.
