I have currently got AVG's free anti virus thingy installed and have had no complaints with it. I can download the Virgin Media Security software for free (there is a payable one as well) and I wondered if anyone knows which one is better.
I did used to have Virgins PC Guard but it slowed my PC down

Personally I'd stick with AVG because they specialise in the anti-virus stuff. The Virgin software has probably been knocked together as cheaply as possible by some third-party software developer. So it will probably be more of a resource hog than AVG and the support and updates won't be as good.

Thanks.
That was my initial thought as well

Probably an obvious thing to say but have you tried Microsoft Security Essentials?  Effective, lightweight and unobtrusive.

I also recommend MSE. Best free AV by far.
