QuoteI hope that Gordon Lewis listened to six hours of arguments, then went and opened a cold one and thought 'stuff this'

A tweet from a cricinfo writer, I'd agree with this, waste of time really, doesn't seem to be any conclusive video evidence either way.

Some big performances from Roy and Vince in the T20. They're really knocking on the door.

rjd2

Vince I think is the real deal of the two, probably most likely of the two to make it in all formats. He is why I hope Hampshire don't fuck up making it to division one, want to see how he does against better bowling in regular basis.

For the next few T20 internationals, I'd like to see

Hales
Roy
Vince

As the top 3.

Shoulders?-Stomach!

Roy is supposedly suspect against the short ball but as that's barely a factor in T20s (sadly), he'll get away with it. He dismantled McClenaghan at the weekend and seems to have a great eye. Also, young.

I agree with you though, Hales, Roy and Vince are all capable of scoring 150+ strike rate and turn in big scores that win matches. They're the ones you want. You can cobble together scores at the end of innings but you want people at the top softening up the bowlers and asserting themselves. England's selection has been off since we won the World Cup- odd since our World Cup squad was at the time full of our best sloggers.

Fair enough, you don't want a full team full of Luke Wrights, but these guys have already surpassed the likes of him.

Michael Jeh's blog wanders a bit but there are some good points.

QuoteThe ICC, of course, is a mere child when it comes to emulating the big boys of FIFA. Nonetheless it does an admirable job of running the global game with a similar ineptness, specialising in selective blindness and myopic tunnel vision, presumably a KPI for successfully running any international sport. Many of their match referees, serial sledgers in their time, presumably without legal qualifications, make decisions in quasi-legalspeak that tell of an organisation that understands that the tail wags the dog

Phil Colons

The fact that some match referees were sledgers in their playing days is a total irrelevance. These are middle aged men now, not testosterone riddled 20 somethings.

What's this? Pakistan compiling a competent test innings...

http://www.espncricinfo.com/sri-lanka-v-pakistan-2014/engine/match/745153.html

7 runs scored by the openers so no change there, but Younis Khan cashing in big against a Sri Lanka side who never seem to stop playing cricket. Those guys must be jaded.

Suddenly Angelo Matthews appears to have played 42 tests. Mental.

I thought Mahela had gone?

rjd2

This is his last series, so one test left after this.

I'd like to get Umar Akmal in the team, supposedly not got the fitness to be a wicket keeper for five days though so maybe somewhere in the middle order.

Have Azhar open as he did domestically, with such a flimsy opening partnership its not going to be a huge change of pace for him. Younis and Misbah not going to be around forever and fuck all talented young lads coming through so would be good to get him back in the set up. He made a great start to his test career before he went haywire, seems to have smartened up in the last few years.

England Lions beat Sri Lanka today at Taunton so yeah a road as usual looking at the scoreboard.

http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/708695.html

Hales is doing everything right this season which is pleasing. I'd like to see some scores from Vince this series, but bench warmer for the world cup is probably his ceiling for now.

5 Sixes for Roy in one over as well!

No idea why Ravi is in this side, but heh at least Luke Wright isn't,small mercies and all that.

Shoulders?-Stomach!

Gonna have to make a quick decision on Roy. Like Hales his eye is fucking phenomenal, and only going to get dodgier as he ages. I know there are doubts that he's a waster and can't play the short ball but the guy is fearless and gives away surprisingly few chances considering how aggressive he is. Other countries are brave enough to unleash guys like this, usually on the likes of England who don't know what's hit us.

Shoulders?-Stomach!

Toss lost :(

It's most likely going to rain a bit in this match so I'm going to go for a draw. No changes for England. Jordan doesn't deserve to play but at least he gets a crack at the whip.

Could be a good one as Aaron and Ashwin come in, two potential match winners.

Nobody Soup

oh man, they actually brought gambhir back?

(cue inevitable 100)

rjd2

Why on earth would you choose to bat first on this pitch?

India look the shambles of 2011 again.

rjd2

8/4

Not joking but they will struggle to get 100 here.

Astonishing that both captains wanted to bat first.

weirdbeard

Ugh. The delayed start threw me so only just turned it on. Missed all the fun so far.

Shoulders?-Stomach!

Bowlers paradise out there.

Says a lot about my demanding nature that when I checked it went from 8/4 to 32/4 and I was like WHAT THE FUCK LADS

Shoulders?-Stomach!

I still get upset that Australia got 120 at Edgbaston in 1997 when we shouldve had them for 45  and we won anyway.

thraxx

Shit!

I saw the 8-4 score on the nest and excitedly found a TMS stream to listen to without realising it has a 90 minute delay in it.  So as a result I've been yelping with excitement as I thought we'd taken ANOTHER 4 quick wickets.

Vaughan shut the fuck up about S******* C*** D******

Thursday

Everything happens in Cricket when I'm not watching, bloody hell.

Mr Eggs

Another gone. Finally some praise for Jimmy from Boycott on TMS.

Loved his opening to Alison Mitchell on his first stint this morning: " 'Ello love....".

Thursday

And to prove my point, I'd just loaded up the stream and then my laptop cut out because I'd forgot to plug it in just as that wicket happened.

Thursday

Shoulders?-Stomach!

^For a moment I thought we were batting.

180 all out would be a not bad-ish score on this wicket after being 80-4. Amazed Dhoni hasn't got out yet but, there he is.

Plus England's record on bouncy wickets is fucking turd and there is no amount of bold, italics or underlining that could stress that enough.

Mr Eggs

Can you throw a man out of Old Trafford for retrieving a beach ball from the outfield?

thraxx

Come on Porker show India the meaning of dominion.

Mr Eggs

This Boycott and Alison Mitchell combo is like listening to the series 1 Mighty Boosh opening conflabs between Howard Moon and Vince Noir.

She lost it towards the end. His fist must have come above microphone level.

So I'd be hoping for 250 from this position. Aaron ruffled our feathers a bit. Be a bonus if Jordan makes runs. Weather still looking a bit dodge tomorrow night onwards.

rjd2

Yeah Aaron looks the pick of their bowlers, may need some time but he has serious pace so worth investing in especially as they stupidly continue to overlook Yadev.

Not as positive about Pankaj as others, likable and a little unlucky but maybe he just isn't good enough?

Jordan been in may be a blessing, I'd want him to be aggressive to unsettle India, as long as England don't bat to long they will win. A first inning score of over 360 or so gives England more than enough runs to force a win.

Robson may not get a bat again,so its one more test I'd reckon to save his spot, melodramatic maybe, but he has looked very amateur at times this summer.
