Kishi the Bad Lampshade

Go see this film, you guys. It's by the director of Oscar-winning Iranian film A Separation (it's actually an earlier film, from 2009 I think, now being released in the wake of A Separation's popularity), about a group of middle-class Tehranians who go on a beach holiday. It starts off jolly and then shit goes down, tensions arise, fingers get pointed and drama occurs. It's really impressive in the same way that AS was, in that it takes a relatively large number of characters and somehow manages to make them all well-rounded and believable - there's no goodies and baddies, just a complex situation where you can see everyone's nuanced point of view and understand their motivations. It also has some subtle and underplayed things to say about women and class and Iranian society and shit.
