I assumed the 4chan thing must mean it's swingers but this might just be a way of NBC or someone putting the feelers out, seeing how much interest it would get. Surely some anonymous 4chan user isn't a strong enough source for this to be so widely reported? I mean, the link in my original post came from the BFI's twitter feed.

This would seem to indicate that it's not entirely unlikely:

Also, earlier this month, someone on Reddit posted a load of stuff they made up about what was going to be in Fallout 4 that was duly reprinted on quite few gaming sites. Although there were warnings about these details unconfirmed, it seemed to be given quite a bit of credence and at the very least, it showed just how easily hacks will reprint such claims.

While I was hosting on CaB Radio on Thursday evening, I decided to have a dabble with layering two alternative versions of the Theme from Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me. To elaborate, here's the blurb I provided for the YouTube link below:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8hgZnMVVOE&feature=youtu.be

So, despite the rumours remaining as such, here's something to alleviate the anxiety. Who'd have thought putting two fantastic alternative pieces of music together would turn into utter bliss? Well, for me anyway. Enjoy.

This is brilliant, do you have a high-quality download anywhere? I hate ripping from YouTube.

That's excellent, it's like they were made for each other.

No worries, here's an mp3 download link. The sax version is from The Twin Peaks Archive available through Lynch's website, while the trumpet version is from the original soundtrack, put together via Audacity.

I'm in love with the meeting of the two. Initially, it's like they're fighting against each other, then by around the halfway point, it's like they give each other the courtesy of the riff, if that makes sense. I'm certain that they were recorded separately with the same backing track (hence the smoothness), and I'm pretty sure if Lynch were to put the two version together himself, he'd gleefully call it a 'happy accident'. It's my new favourite piece.

cambridge-news.co.uk has managed to report the same story about the police stopping some cyclists without lights three times now[nb]although Burglar's 'bad hair day' fuelled by drugs and drink was quite good.[/nb]. It does keep the population of Cambridge warm with rage though.

I don't know if you're saying it's untrue, but when I was in Cambridge I got stopped by the police for riding a bike without lights at 3pm (it was a proper little roadblock they'd set up seemingly for that reason alone).  I got a £30 ticket for the lights and an additional £20 one for swearing.

Some serious Rage Against The Machine music got played that night, and no mistake!!!

Not exactly season 3 but Lynch is recording a new promo for the upcoming Twin Peaks Blu-ray http://www.bleedingcool.com/2014/01/03/david-lynch-to-shoot-new-twin-peaks-material-probably-as-a-promo-for-the-upcoming-blu-rays/

QuoteThough it's yet to be confirmed, I've heard that the Blu-ray release of Twin Peaks will include the entire series, the prequel movie, a great deal of deleted scenes material – up to 45 minutes have been mentioned, but it's in the hands of both lawyers and remastering boffins – and it will all hit the street in late March.

Incidentally, if the set lands on March 25th in the US, as I'm expecting, that's exactly 25 years after Dale Cooper met Laura Palmer in the Black Lodge.

Small Man Big Horse

I saw that via a Twin Peaks site yesterday, and this bit of the casting call bemused:

QuoteHot Caucasian Girl – Brunette or Redheads Only. To play waitress, 18-27. Must have an amazing body, busty, very period looking face.

I'm pretty sure he stole that straight from my OkCupid profile!

Anyone ever heard of this?

http://www.slashfilm.com/david-lynch-and-mark-frosts-on-the-air-is-like-a-dream-chronicle-of-making-twin-peaks-video/

I saw it when BBC 2 showed it back in the early 90s, presumably hoping that it would bring in the Twin Peaks crowd. But as in the US, it was a horrible failure. I loved the pilot episode (the only one Lynch directed iirc) but thought the rest mostly mis-fired, trying to pull off Lynchian farce but not quite managing it. They used to be available to download legally for free, but I can't find them now.

Edit: The pilot's on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gYef8OjlNBw

Mark Frost said its bollocks on twitter.

Lynch confirms that there's no plans for a third season:

"Rumors are just that: rumors are rumors. There's always been rumors about things and there's no real truth to it. I don't know where these rumors come from, but I think they were based on some misunderstandings of what's going on. It's true that there will be a new Blu-ray of Twin Peaks: the pilot, the first season, the second season and there will be some special things on that Blu-ray that haven't been seen before. That's about all I can say."

Ah, I wish I could get my hopes up, but they're probably just launching a David Lynch branded chewing gum or something.

Puce Moment

But that thing about gum is a saying isn't it - used for when something you really like is going to come back?

I think it is a sign of something good.

Lynch also tweeted this a couple of months back:

Quote from: David LynchDear Twitter Friends, do any of you know where Everett McGill is? I'd really like to talk to him. Thank you.

McGill played Ed Hurley in TP. Bit of a long-shot, admittedly, but interesting.

Oh God. It's damned cruel of Lynch if this is nothing - knowing how fans would cling to the news.

I know we should all be precious and worried about what a come-back would mean but, in truth, I think the time is right. The whole 25 year thing fits loosely and the story would be that much sadder, weirder and darker if it were revisited today. Esp with where we left poor Coops.

Agree they're probably launching a chewing gum, though...

Big Jack McBastard

There's a bloke who's on one of them scripted 'reality' shows where they move cumbersome shit about who is the fucking pop of Bob. Hang on I'll find him.

I don't use Twitter, but Mark Frost isn't - ugh - re-Tweeting there, is he?  So they both agreed to send that message at roughly the same time.  Either it's the most banal hacking effort ever, or there's something up.

I'd be very surprised if we were talking a TV series or a film here.  That said, Netflix and Amazon, among others, are getting pretty hungry for original productions, particularly with built-in audiences.  The idea of online vignettes came up a few years ago too, but that seemed to be mainly Kyle Maclachlan talking wishful bollocks.

Yer Lynch tends to talk about not returning to an idea once it's been worked over, and until recently I'd have thought that any kind of Twin Peaks revival would be out of the question.  He did do that bit with the Palmers for the blu ray, though, and that alone would have been unthinkable a while back.

Whatever it is, I give it 2/10.

(e:  just noticed that Lynch goes with an exclamation mark at the end, but Frost gives it the more sober full stop.  That there's a tiny difference does suggest to me that they sent each other texts or something to coordinate this)

Yeah Twitter is having a shit over this at the moment.

I hope it's true.

The original second season was already pretty disappointing, why would this be good? Plus Audrey Horne is probably like all old now and stuff.

Thursday

Well the 2nd season only really got shit when Lynch left after the killer was revealed.

The second series was dissapointing as a result of network over involvement in the creative process and the diminished attention Lynch gave to the show (notice when he returns for the final few episodes, the show picks up in quality, most notably the final episode, which he directed). You'd also hope Netflix or Hulu would leave Frost and Lynch to make their art how they wanted to, without restrictions.
