This is now in it's NINETEENTH year. Wow.

I remember when this went out. I'd heard most of his shows before that time and they were certainly edgy but post-watershed. I remember realising they'd scheduled Morris mid-afternoon on Boxing Day, but assumed they'd edited him down to size. It quickly became apparent they hadn't. It became, and still is, one of the audio highlights of my life, hearing this coming out of my shitty old double-cassette stereo system, live, as it happened.

It just reminded me of Gervais goading a witless fool to do stupid things so he could cackle at them, risk free. Of course, i am not comparing them or deriding Morris' taxi stunt. It just felt like a precursor - but I guess this kind of thing was prevalent on Radio 1 at the time and Morris was simply lampooning the style, whilst also getting an extra black comedy hit from the absurd results.
