A Sim City launch would not be a Sim City launch without a Fuckload of problems:

To think I was almost tempted by this to do me for the next 2 weeks.

I'm bumping this because finally, a year after it was released, they've sorted this game out. They've taken out the online-only, so you can play offline on your own like the old days. The cities are still small, but the regions are huge and really varied so you can build several cities at once and specialise, sharing resources between them. It's bloody beautiful to look at and I'm currently addicted to it. Been up til 3am playing it the last three nights.

Too soured by EA now, it's like them big ropey bottles of cider you used to swig when you were a kid that now make me sick to even consider consuming. Now they've got the game equivalent of 'premium' glass bottles of Kopperberg and I'm still not going anywhere near em no matter how many people tell me it's good.

I've been desperate for another clever, expressive, city building management game for a long time, but have just been too busy, but I've finally finished all my major stuff for the year and finally have time for something to consume all my waking thoughts and time.

Tropico 5 looks too much like Tropico 4 and I played far too much of that, and at the moment, I've finally made the world's greatest maximum security prison in Prison Architect until the next update throws some spanners in the works, and I really kind of want to pick this up next time I get paid.

I know all the fucking shit that went down with it, but what are people's thoughts of this game like, over a year later? Is it worth picking up?
Hoverdonkey seems very positive in the below post but I've also been watching recent videos where people are saying that despite all the server stuff, and basic bugs being fixed, the continued huge tiny city limit sizes ruin it, and each play session gets a bit boring after a couple hours, since you basically fill the entire limits within 20 minutes. I hate the idea of having to play multiple games, and start from scratch each time just to get them all functioning as a whole, and I'm not interested in multiplayer, and even if I was, I don't know a single person who bought this. Likely completely put off by the fucking bullshit that went on for that first 9 months with the game.

I love the Phillip Glass Koyaanisqatsi-esque soundtrack, and it looks wonderful in terms of all the graphics and the art-style, but at the moment, it just seems a bit too slight. Like I'd play it for a couple hours and just get bored again. I'm not after spreadsheets and complex menu systems, I just want something that's thoughtful, challenging and beautiful that I can just dedicate weeks to.

If people recommend against Sim City, what are the thoughts on that new Banished Game? Or the Anno Series?

Fuck. I just looked at the Cities of Tomorrow expansion, and it looks ridiculous in those tiny spaces. Is there a Cyberpunk style City-Building game where I can build Blade Runner esque Megacities? THAT'S WHAT I FUCKING WANT RIGHT NOW. [nb]EDIT: Just started a thread about Cyberpunk shit just to cool my boots.[/nb]

If not, TRADEMARK. TRADEMARK. TRADEMARK.

I'll make it myself, Fuckers.
